Whats the average per visiter that a website makes? I average about 5-6 cents per visiter. Is that good or bad. Am I not utilizing all my ad space??

Ericy,

I've been involved in many business ventures over the years, as an owner, manager, sales person, employee. Your question is pretty broad.

I know of alot of folks who make a few bucks off of a hobby, and other folks who work out of their house that pull down 6 digit incomes. Websites are no different that any other business. And if I may put in a shameless plug for the forum "next door" that's the kind of question I'd hope folks would bring over there. Not necessarily questions about affiliate programs and similiar ventures, but the other spin on it, how to take an existing business or hobby and use a web site to promote it, or suppliment it.

There's a few web sites out there that started out small, and are now pulling down $millions, but that's the exception not the rule. The best example of a "fun" web site that turned into a big business is imdb.com, it was just a fun database of movie information and for the most part, a great source of movie information and trivia. It was "absorbed" by internet power amazon.com as a sales vehicle when they decided to get into the movie business. Keep in mind amazon.com is also a new business created out of the new free enterprize system on the net.

I'm sure there's tons of websites making from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a month, all hoping to be the next imdb.com or amazon.com. It's not different than the ton's of sales people in the world, there's quite a few working hard to make ends meet. With a lot of hard work, and a lot of determination, and a bit of luck, some will make it to the "big time"

With a website, like a business, there will many determining factors to success, number of visitors, $ per visitor, are a start, but as your costs of keeping the web site running increase, what will be your break even point? If it's a free website will they kick you off if you generate too much traffic? If it's not a free web site, at what point does the price you pay for increased band width kick in?

In most "traditional" businesses, a businesses track record isn't even considered until it's been around at least a couple of years. Hard to believe this whole business of business on the internet is just starting to take off, with e-commerce as we now call it, having it's first real money making year in 1998.

As the internet grows, there will be more and more affilate programs offerning products to sell. There will also be millions more websites available to sell those products. The good news is, it's a free enterprise system at its best. While the competition will increase, right now, I still think this is only the beginning.

I hope you find that this works.
Its working now.
The site will move soon as the time that the server seems to be "unavailable" is loads.
Noodle away, I`ll be putting some discussion
forums together myself in the future.
I can see how effective they are for many things in many ways.
But I`ll always call on you.
