I am posting this query of mine here because i believe that domain hosting is an integral part of making money on the web .
I have a domain name and i am intending to host it in one of the many free server .
The list of the servers that i have identified and viewed is available at the url above .
Anybody have any experience with any free domain hosting sites ? I don't mind the banner and all because only I only intend to put my index page on the first page and then instantly teleport my visitors to my no-banners free page hosting site .

There will probably be a few folks that throw rocks at me for saying this, but I need to say it. There is no way you are going to get the service you deserve from a free web host. They have no obligation to you, or very little.
Go to a website like the Ultimate webhost list http://webhostlist.internetlist.com/ , read up, learn. Pick out a few and send them an e-mail with your questions, see how quickly they respond, see if you get a real answer, or simply an autorespond that says visit our website.
We've "talked" enough on this forum lately that I already feel like I'm becoming a "friend of the family." We've discussed the problems you've had with getting your domain name registered. With all this, I would hope you would find a web host that will take can of you. You deserve it!

Questy is to tactfull http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/biggrin.gif No one is likely to take you seriously with a free site, regardless of your zoom zoom stuff to another site. I don't mean to be harsh or disrespectfull of your thoughts, but these are the realities of commerce on the net for Affiliates.
You are like family, so here is my early Christmas present to you! Go to one of my other sites and create your Web Site for FREE. That means no charge and ignore the invoice that is sent to you. Send me private E-Mail if you have questions.

Thanks guys for all your support .
I know that free things usually have its setbacks but as of now , free things are the only things that I can afford . The exchange rate to the US dollar in my country is just too high for me to afford !!!
I still have not had my domain activated despite sending my check and I am continuing to wonder how long more is this going to take. I am really happy that i have "Friends" ( in inverted commas because i consider you family too ) http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/wink.gif , like you guys . You are really a help . As of now i am still working on my site . It's been two months and I can see that I am slowly getting my flow of visitors . From the average of 1-2 visitors per day , I am now moving on to about 8-10 . This figure increases every two months and I am quite happy with it as I have just started out .
Thanks guys for all your support !!

Thank you for posting one of my webpages on this forum. Well heartz I have rated them and if you would have notice I gave hypermart a rating of 10 and I believe is probably the best free domain hosting listed. I have just sign up for a new domain with them and they help me set it up and have it activated two day. They also have cgi support. But the only down side is the banners. However if you don't want those annoying banners there is a free domain hosting company which I failed to list on my webpage because I'm not sure of ther service, but the plus side to them is that they require no banners it's just free. However they only allow 100MB of transfers a month, which mean you can have more than 10000 page view on your site each month. here's the url for the free domain host without the banners http://portland.co.uk

Yeah I forgot to mention Steve_S is right no one takes a free hosted site with a ugly(hard to remember) looking url serious. I know cause I track my free host site and I found it is not getting nearly as much traffic as my sub-domain hosted sites. That is when I know that I seriously need a domain for my site.
Anyway like you I have no money. So I decided to host my domain in free domain hosting sites until I can earn enough on the web for a paid hosting. I hope you find my free domain hosting webpage list helpful cause it took me long hours to get all those free domain hosting services listed. Boy I wish they also pay for the Internic fee.

Hey people !
Well Ericy , I do agree that we people who have no money have to stick to the basics . However , i think i found something that might just be my cup of tea .
You know , how yahoo has games.yahoo.com , mail.yahoo.com ... etc . Well i found a site that will redirect your domain name plus let you have unlimited amount of subdomains for on USD 25 per year !! Of course you have to be satisfied with your current free server before subscribing and even if you dont , it is as easy as 1-2-3 to change it... ( at lease this it what they say ) . Try going to
http://www.alldomains.com and check out their DGear service . I think it is pretty cool and cheap . Any body have anything to say about this service ?

As before you should had check on site more clearly. Goto
to see a large list of free sub-domain redirectors.
As for what I think about the www.alldomains.com redirection service I believe is a ****. No what I mean is that it cost you 25 dollars a year to redirect it, while as you could just get your domain for as little as ten dollar more. Plus one thing about this service distrubs me is the fact that they never stated whether the domain name that they help you redirect will be under their name or yours. They could just lock you out of your domain if you decided to stop using their service. Before you if ever decide to use this service I think you must ask them about this. Or you could spend years building up high traffic for that domain only to find out that it does not belong to you. I really don't suggest you use this.

Dear Ericy ,
Thanks for the concern .
I think that you do not have to worry about the owning the domain . All domains clearly state it in their site that the domain will belong to you . Besides , Internic says that the domain belongs to the person who pays for it ..i.e . me .
Besides that the reason i don't like the redirecting services is because of their banners and stuff . I hate banners and that's why you would never find them on my site . My affliate links are all text links and my visitors prefer that .
The reason i say all domains is a deal is
The website forwarding is quite a deal , plus you get unlimited subdomains - ( A feature that most people who host sites charge for it ) , Email forwarding and stuff . I think i will be able to afford it somewhere in the middle of the year when i expect my first bachsys check to arrive !!!
Besides one of my friends who has a friend who uses this service says that it is pretty efficient with emails being replied fairly fast .
What say the other people in this board ?

Sorry for my long absence from my own forum http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/frown.gif Feeling better and now trying to sort through several hundred emails, do some consulting for a friend on a site he is setting up, and get back on track with reviews for CQ. Gald to be back http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/smile.gif
I just thought I would throw my $0.02 into this and say that actually I started CQ with free hosting myself. I used my account provided by my ISP. You can still see what it kind of looks like if you go to www.provide.net/~adams/ (http://www.provide.net/~adams/) . (Kind of embarrased to share that, but it is still there...)
On top of that I was using a Hotmail email address. How unprofessional can you get? Anyway, I realized pretty quick that this wasnt going to cut it. And I moved it to Hiway about a month later. Of course my traffic almost doubled immediately thanks to better search engin rankings since search engines don't take domains with ~ in them to seriously sometimes.
I also began receiving much better responses from visitors and sites I tried to partner with. Having an email @yourdomain.com is a necessity.
I guess in summary I would say that building a site on a free host is not a bad idea if you feel especially strapped for cash, but I highly recommend you move to a web host and your own domain ASAP.

If you must use a free service, try www.virtualave.net (http://www.virtualave.net)
The service works well, support is FAQ file, personal support is doubtfull. Provided you are not in need of a lot of help, it's great.
You get a banner pop up that stay's minimised, unlike hypermart's annoying 2 min refresh. You can also elect to display the banner to avoid a pop up.
20 mb, Full cgi etc etc.
A happy customer I suppose, check my site out at http://websitetrader.virtualave.net
I also have another site at ICOM.com and at only $8.25 Month, who cares.

If you don't have a lot of money - get a hypermart site. You are not required to use a pop-up (you can have a regular banner at the top of the page).
Then, the best thing to do is to invest $70 to get your own domain name. It will lend credibility.
If you can't even afford that, get a redirect page from a site like http://bow.to/ or http://spaceship.to/
You can get a free redirect page, or for $12 a year, you get a "cloaking device" which will make any site look like "bow.to/mysite"
This is probably more of a webmaster issue, but I know that most people just getting started don't have a lot of money, but want a site people will come to to MAKE a lot!
