Hi

Just a warning that I am slightly techno challenged although with clear direction, can usually fix stuff. The problem is this (and I know that guestbook tampering is an ongoing problem with the free guestbook service)... what do I do (and can I do anything) if because of tampering, everytime anyone goes to my guestbook to sign it and *even* when I log into my Geekvillage account to delete a posting that I think is a problem, there is a really nasty pop-up that comes up and re-directs to an offensive site.

Is there a way for me to remove the pop-up? I am getting a lot of complaints from visitors to my site and want to know if I should just take my guestbook off (which I don't really want to do) or if there is a way to deal with it. Oh, and is there a way to temporarily diasable the guestbook until Geekvillage is able to deal with the tampering?

If this is relevant - my operating system is Windows XP and I use Internet Explorer.

Please help!
Kim

Welcome,

1. NONE of my services/scripts/code do as you describe nor have they every done this nor will they ever do this kind of icky stuff :)

2. I would guess that your computer system is infected. Try these:

http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

Downoad and install this:

http://www.lavasoft.de

3. Please send me your user name and the exact URL of your site and the link/url which leads to your guestbook. I need a page to click on your guestbook link. I will see whats up with your guestbook.

Please send this to me via email and do not post on this Forum since the service is no longer supported and it's days are unfortunetly numbered. :)

Send to: webmaster@geekvillage.com

4. If this still doesn't fix your system then drop over to our own StopScum Forum and see if one of the other geeks can help you remove any spyware on your system.

Good luck :)
