Unhappy Profitable Sites

I'm really looking at making a site that could potentially generate a ton of revenue [lol, aren't we all] and I'm interested in what you people think would be a type of genre of site that could make the most revenue. Of course, the site must be legal and non-porn.

I think anything can work if it's unique and new! Something that is advertising dependant, won't get too far.

Sites that take percent cut, or charge are making the money right now. For example, eBay.com. They have a solid business model, and that's why their doing good still.

Pornography, sir - the most successful sites. <starts talking like Yoda> However, pornography is the road to the dark side - porn leads to arousal, araousal leads to masturbation, and masturbation... leads to ejaculation...

Oh. Um, sorry got a bit off topic there. I assume that you mean the successful sites aside from porn. Well, looking at the current sites, it's all about grabbing unclaimed market. Yahoo was the first good portal, amazon the first good bookstore, ebay the first truly good auction site.

It's basically really easy, actually:

Demand / Competitors = Success

You need to be skilled and capable of scooping up the demand, but if you are that, the above equation is indeed valid. I think.
