Exclamation Reel.com Program Ends

Yet another major CPC affiliate program has come to a sudden conclusion. One the 20th of March, Reel.com affiliates received notification that their CPC rates would be reduced to 1-3 cent/click. Now, just a few weeks later, the program has ceased functioning entirely, with fraud and market conditions blamed for this action.

Please find following an extract from the email affiliates received:
Over the past couple of months, we have performed an extensive review of our CPC Affiliate program. This review has led us to the conclusion that we can no longer support the Reel.com Affiliate program based on current Internet advertising market conditions and the level of fraud we've encountered.

Effective immediately, our CURRENT PROGRAM WILL BE DISCONTINUED and all affiliate sites receiving this notice will be set to zero dollar ($0) compensation for click-throughs. We will then begin the process of building a new program from a base of a few partner sites as opposed to thousands. You may hear from us soon to be invited into this new program.

We realize that all Affiliates will not be able to remove links from their site immediately, so links to Reel.com will remain active for at least the next 30 days. After that point, links may be deactivated without notice at the discretion of Reel.com.
Maybe a pay-per-sale program would have been better suited to the firm's business plan, but one would imagine that any program could survive on a 1 cent/click rate, protected by Reporting.net's fraud prevention system. I guess not...
