It really depends on your topic. Please keep in mind the keywords that you are after. Your domain should be reflective of your keywords.

Thanks for the recommendation - I will be following Daily Blog Tips and probably getting the book for additional domain purchases.

Take your time when picking a domain name. I would recommend staying away from a lot of the non TLD extensions.

If you are targeting only a specific country , GEO domains can be good in some areas.

Based on what your goals are, I would stick with Top Level Domain Extensions like .com .net and sometimes .org .info

If you are selling something, I would probably stay with .com. Try to get something keyword rich that is brandable, if it is not an exact match.

If you stick with .com , your website / brand will be trusted more overall.
Good luck.

Don't pick the name until you decide what the site is about.
Then pick your marketplace.
Then choose the domain name - read about "generic" and "keyword" domain names before you decide.
Some TLDs will index easier than others - com and net are obvious, but co.uk and .de are also good.

Pick a Domain Name that Reflects Your Web Site(Better Contains Your Web Site's Keywords)

As to domain name extension, dotcom is still the best choice.

Make it easy to remember.

.com and .in are the best choices you can have, and also the url should be relevant to your site
