gallery - glad your experience with Forsite was better than mine. I wasn't with them for very long - less than two weeks from start to bitter end. Maybe I had some bad luck.

consent - If you just want lots of bandwidth but not a lot of fancy features, try http://website.yahoo.com/ I know it sounds like a strange suggestion. Someone on this board suggested them. 30GIG for $30/month. The reliability has been good and they must have a very good internet connection for those servers as they are very fast.

Thanks for the suggestion, Simon. A good chunk of cheap, reliable transfer will help me. I don't use anything fancy...no cgi scripts, etc. 30 gigs is pretty good. I am prepared to divide my site into sections like Gallery does, for now at least.

my site with forsite is consuming around 7GB of BW/month and using some cgi scripts and so far so good for me http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

as for digiweb, ... it has very little down time since the upgrading of the servers, however its too expensive without displaying the button ... i am shifting to tera-byte for a better offer(plan 4) that cost me only $99/year!!! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

gallery : digiweb doesn't offer the button program anymore right? the button seems not able to load. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif

Thumbs up

Hi noti,

Yes I noticed that the logo prog has disappeared but I'm still not paying.

Anyway $20 a month will not kill me :-) given the money I earn.

hehe that would be me http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

i am still using them for my largest site which is bringing in 22 - 32k pageviews/day and 1 - 1.6GB/day bandwidth but i am on their old unlimited web space/unlimited bandwidth plan for US$39.99/month they still hold me to this plan http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

but i also have a raq3 with 100gb/month bandwidth for US$109/month as well so i am not worried about bandwidth http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

gallery : hahaha you are correct .. $20 would be less than 1% of your profit http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

talking about the payment with digiweb ... they are really lenient with the payment ... my site is up and working for a month, before i pay for the fees(the check i sent to digiweb was lost and i have to send another one). ... and currently my account was overdue for 2 months, and still working just fine ... however, they never notify me about the overdue payment ... maybe i have their button on my site or maybe the accounting stuff are no doing their jobs ... anyhow ... its really go towards me hehehe http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Singloon - Yes it probably was you. It was was a good suggestion. I have my largest site with them too and I have never had any complaints (though I don't demand or expect too much from a webhost).

I don't know if it is very reliable test but the other day I pinged all of the sites I work with on different web hosts. The site hosted on Yahoo returned the the quickest ping times.

Well...maybe I'll try DigiWeb again and/or go with Website.yahoo.com.

Either that, or I'll make the leap to the raq3 100gb/month.

if you are looking for high Bandwidth, dont go for digiweb, bcos they only offer the most 15Gb/month for $99/month with $50 setup, however with only $99/year you get 30GB/month with tera-byte PLUS no setup fees eek!

I thought I'd mention my favorite virtual hosting comany -- http://csoft.net/
They have very reasonable prices, starting from $5/month for 100Mb storage (CGI+PHP+MySQL+mail+shell+SSL). Although they say that the transfers are unlimited, and I know that they can't really offer that, but I've been using about 15-20 Gb of traffic per month for several months now, and they haven't said a thing. They actually gave me a subdomain off of their csoft.net name for free so all requests for my site won't clog their main log file. And I never had a single technical problem with their servers so far.

Hmm, well it does look like csoft.net admin are experienced programmers themselves... so they know about using persistent database connections that last per process instead of per page hit.
