Cool

Does anyone know if the .htaccess file can be used to protect certain directories?

I want to use this method but have web sites which hotlink my buttons and such so I don't want to protect the whole site.

Anybody know if this can be done?

This would be hard after the fact, but I have a seperate domain that I use to allow people to hotlink from.

simple just place the htaccess file into the directory folder of images you want to protect from hot linking.. do not put the htaccess file in the root directory of your site.

Cool

Thanks Regier,
Linking to another domain is a great idea.

Thanks for the info Singloon,
Your so helpful!

One more question...
I already have a .htaccess file in my root for SSI. Can I still put a second .htaccess file in the image directory which I want to protect?

I will try it and see.

I might even get my own server like you after I learn a little more.
Sure could use one...

Thanks again,
