Unhappy Newsletter ads (ya there suave??)

I signed up with Topica - but for some reason am unable to ad textual links to my sponsors (??) Is this forbidden?? (their's head the newletter no problem) If so, any programs out there that I can create my own? Or any free scripts (ie. Matts) that handle lists. Thanks again for the advice.

I have had no such problems with Topica. What's the exact problem you're getting?

Thanks suave,

I copy and paste the link (really nothing to it), but it comes up as just text..no link. I assumed Topica had some restrictions about adding links to my own programs. If not, I must be doing something wrong. I copied the code directly from my page. When that didn't work, I went to the site and got the specific code for textual email links. I'll have to experiment a bit more. It's the first one I tried. I'll check another *thanks again*

Hi,

when you write your message with a text editor be sure to include the http:// in your links: they should works.

Hope this helps.

Nope, nothing helps :-(

I've tired copying both links from the 4anything site, as well as the text link from my site. I even tried adding it to the headers and footers - nothing. I'll have to try another list to determine where the problem lies. Thanks anyway :-)

Ok, I've got it working by deleting most of the extra coding they told me not to alter *sigh* Thanks. Now I'm kinda leery bout promoting it anymore (as it's getting way above average - hence suspicious - clicks)

If you are dealing with the linkshare code, I would be leary about altering it, I think when you do it just becomes free traffic for them.

When I alterned the linkshare link to the linkshare affiliate program (took out the invisible image they use) it appears that I sent them 40+ visitors with no sign ups. I concluded that they don't credit you if the code isn't right...

Just my experience, take it for what it is worth.

Just had another thought.

Perhaps the reason the code was not working was because linkshare text links also call on a "invisable" image. Does topica allow you to send images in the letter?

Maybe that is it.

Hmm...good points. I think I'll contact their tech support to be sure (they do have the invisible image). I also thought Topica may have had restrictions - but suave seems to add it ok.

Thanks for the suggestions
