Question Email form AdSearches

------------------------------------------------------------
AdSearches
mailto:adsearches@advertising.com

Dear AdSearches Member,

We are writing to announce significant changes to the
AdSearches Program. Changes will go into effect
July 9, 2001.

Effective July 9th:
AdSearches will no longer pay per first click, but on a
percentage of total revenue earned. That percent will be
significant, with affiliates earning upwards of 75% of our
search revenue.

In addition, new money making pages will be available.
These pages combine all of Advertising.com's revenue
options - banners, text ads, co-registration, and search
terms into one design. Payouts will be based on total
revenue earned, making them a more attractive proposition
to owners of unused domain names and for error pages.

Text links will still be available and the number of terms
supported will be greater. A list of top terms will also
be available for use. For those who stay in the program,
no coding changes will have to take place.

In order for these changes to take place smoothly, all
users must reapply to AdSearches to remain in the program.
Current usernames will be retained so that those who
continue with the program will not have to alter
their coding or create new usernames and passwords. All users are effectively suspended on July 9th pending re-approval. No money will be earned nor money credited to your existing account on and after July 9th unless you accept these changes and are accepted on re-approval.

Those most affected by this switch will be webmasters who
rely on the search box functionality alone to generate
revenue.

To assist in a quick turnaround time, when reapplying
please send an email to
mailto:adsearches@advertising.com with your current
username and means by which you would like to use the
program. For example, please provide a list of
domain names that will host either a directory page of
your choice or our money making page. The pages can be
customized to fit your logo, color scheme and content
category. A car domain name can have different content
than a gambling domain name. Simply tell us what
would like or submit a site for approval.

Our whole goal is to have us all make more money.

Thank you for understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,

Jay

Jay Weintraub

I wonder if this is agood or bad... I noticed right now they are using links from sprinks.com's search engine...

I'm reserving my judgement until I see how many present affiliates actually are accepted into the revised program, and how flexible this turns out to be. At the moment, though, it's not looking good, since I fall into the category of:
Quote:

in regards to this program.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the email, and this actually is a positive development, that offers co-branded search results that are accessible through text links, searchboxes and type-ins. The exact features presented by the program aren't outlined much much specifity, though, so it will be hard to tell until affiliates start testing the new system.

I read it and I think I will be going to targetwords.com from now on unless AdSearches can do some spectacular...

"Those most affected by this switch will be webmasters who rely on the search box functionality alone to generate revenue."

That's me... hehe.

ALTHOUGH:

"In addition, new money making pages will be available.

So, we get to use Advertising.com's banner ads to make money? I'm not quite sure about this... Hmm.

I don't understand why you guys don't use www.searchtraffic.com, I've been using them for almost a year now, they pay 6 cents a search and most importantly they pay on time.

I do use SearchTraffic as well, but AdSearches were a great complement to SI's program, since they supported text links and low-bidded prefills, while paying on a first-click basis.

The guys over at SI may have to condition their servers to accept a huge wave of additional traffic if the new-and-improved AdSearches doesn't provide anything unique, though, as will the co-brand search providers, such as TargetWords, FindIt-Quick and SearchFeed.

Now that Adsearches may be done, what other place offers their affiliates to customize our sites using text links?

What would you all rate as the best one not counting Adsearches?

Thanks,
Chad

Chad, you might like to investigate SI's ClickThruTraffic and TextLinks.com. Both work on a second-click basis, but do provide substantial returns when targeted well.

TargetWords also support text links that provide returns on a hybrid 1st and 2nd-click basis.

I am quite confused by this part of their e-mail:

"In order for these changes to take place smoothly, all users must reapply to AdSearches to remain in the program.
Current usernames will be retained so that those who continue with the program will not have to alter their coding or create new usernames and passwords. All users are effectively suspended on July 9th pending re-approval. No money will be earned nor money credited to your existing account on and after July 9th unless you accept these changes and are accepted on re-approval."

How can we re-apply if our usernames are STILL in their system? Can someone explain this to me? Or is this as simple as this...

Our accounts will be suspended/deleted on July 9th from their database and they'll start re-reviewing all accounts and approving them on case-by-case basis (if we reapply).

Thanks!

When will that email be effective? It says accounts will be suspended by July 9. My account is still working and is still earning $$$ as of now (July 9). I haven't gotten that email, so what is really the real score with Adsearches?

Thumbs up

Kudos to Jay for keeping affiliates informed. I was just about to submit a post here regarding AdSearches' seeming non-response to affiliate re-application/inquiries, and to question a few of the points brought up earlier, when the following email popped into my inbox:
Quote:
July 9, 2001

Dear AdSearches Member,

I would like to thank everyone who has responded to my previous message regarding the changes to AdSearches.

In case any did not receive the prior message, AdSearches is changing the method it pays out - no longer will we pay on first click but on revenue earned from traffic directly linked to a particular account. Expect search revenue to be split 75/25 (webmaster/AdSearches). For those that choose
to run our Money Making Pages, banner revenue will also be split (approximately 50/50).

All accounts will retain their current usernames but must confirm by logging in later today and checking that you accept the new terms (for payout).

An email from current webmasters is also appreciated and expected. This email should list your username, how you currently use/will use AdSearches, i.e., text links, search boxes, directory pages, etc. We would also appreciate a listing of your domains -
a considerable amount of work, but will help
greatly during this transition period.

All webmasters that reapply will know by 7pm EST whether their re-application was accepted. In addition, the new interface should also be available by that time. No one
will be cut-off without notice, but we do expect all of the necessary changes on our end to be in place by close of business today. Updates and improvements will be seen
daily, and I hope that all will take advantage of the improvements - text link support, directory pages, money making pages - and the chance to increase overall
revenue for both parties.

Please email with questions. All will try to be answered as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Jay
That certainly clears things up, and the revised revenue split could prove lucrative for some.

I guess we'll find out in a few hours...
