Unhappy Quick, cheap, but reliable host needed...!

Yes I know it sounds like a paradox...

But, I need a host for a client, that is as cheap as dirt. I was hoping free, but I dont think there are reliable free hosts that will fulfill my THREE simple requirements:

- I can use my own domain. (Registered already)

- They put NO adverts. None. Nothing. Not even a tag line.

- I can put my own adverts.

I have often heard of cheap hosts... like 4 bucks a month... I need one of those now. Its a TINY site. I don't care about e-mail, CGI, webspace (just need TWO megs!), server extras, shopping cart or anything like that. All i need is something reliable. Something that I can trust to just keep that tinny site alive.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
- Kev

You can try Dollar Host ( http://www.dollarhost.com/ ), which comes to approximately $3.50 USD per month. I personally have never delt with them, so I am uncertain of reliability, downtime, customer support, etc.

Just a suggestion.

I think digitalspace.net has $2 a month hosting.

I hear the support is terrible, but the server stability isn't bad.

I also found 5bucksamonth.com ...no word on their support speed or their server stability. Although they are resellers for digitalnation (I think), so that should mean their servers should be ok.

Hope this helped...

Kev I V:

Yes, Dollar Host's cheapest monthly rate is $5.00, but that is five dollars in Canadian currency -- which converts to about $3.50 US.

Pair is a very good host, I have been with them for 2 or 3 years now, I have 6 websites hosted by them. Never had any problems. Prices never go up.

I can vouch for Pair. I host three sites there, and they're very reliable. One of the sites is on their $5 plan, and it's pulling about 1300 page views per day with no problems.

One limitation to note: Your site has to be pretty much plain HTML -- no SSI, no CGI, no scripting other than JavaScript.

if you are looking for a cheap and reputable host, pair.com is the best. however, if you are looking for cheap hosting, you can try out web229.net ... their cheapest plan is $3/month, but with $35 setup fees http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif ... i have 2 under contruction sites hosted by web229.net for around 2 months ... the support and reliability seems good so far ... but the website and reply(e-mail) seem quite unprofessional.

Just to add to the list, I know of http://www.php3hosting.com that starts at $4.80 per month with no set-up fee. That's for 10Mb of space and 250Mb of bandwidth. I have a small site there, and I haven't had any problems with them. Just thought I'd throw it in as another potential option.

notibrian,
web299.net is a reseller from AITCOM.NET
The guy who also owns web299.net owns IRRIINFO.COM.

so thats why the support are slow and unprofessional because he doesn't manage your hosting.. he just sells it.

I am the CEO of http://www.colehosting.com - e-mail me at webmaster@colehosting.com, and I can give you a deal for $5.00/month easy if all you need is a simple website. I am very reliable, and my server never goes down.

Thanks for the help guys,

I'm gonna consider all the options.

Right now, dollarhost seems like a very tempting offer... especially since mtgm made me realize they charge in Canadian $'s...!
But, is that going to make paying the bills a problem? Am I gonna have to deal with both the IRS and the Canadian authorities?

Pair seems like a good option, as does php3...

CCole - Thank you for your offer. I will definitely consider it when making the final decision. (Hopefully by next Sunday at the latest)...

Thanks!
Keep the advice flowing!

No problem, Kev. Same goes for anybody else reading this. If you've just got a small site that doesn't need cgi or emails and stuff, I'm happy to give out a $5.00/month deal. Of course if you have a bigger site, I'd be happy to host those too http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif Just e-mail me @ webmaster@colehosting.com - it gets checked every day, so you will get a fairly quick reply. Have a good day guys!
