THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THIS DOCUMENT IS THE ONLY WARNING YOU WILL EVER RECEIVE. WE DO NOT ISSUE WARNINGS.

Your actions on our Forums are also governed by our Posting Guide. Please carefully read this document BEFORE you post. This document contains examples of inappropriate posts and suggestions and procedures for the same post using different verbiage. In some cases, this document contains examples of posts that are never acceptable, regardless of their verbiage, tone, or intent. Your actions on this site/Forums are also governed by our Terms & Conditions. If you decide to click the Agree button, you agree to comply with these rules, our Posting Guide, and our Terms & Conditions. Some threads/topics which contain "abuse" will be immediately moved out of the public BB into a secure holding area for my review. These threads have no useful content for the majority of our members. In most instances, these threads/topics will never be moved back into the public Forum. This procedure, which was suggested by several members, has several advantages. Abusers no longer have their "15 minutes of fame", the BB content remains "clean" and useful, it helps to maintain civility, and lowers the signal to noise ratio. Unfortunately, our current technology does not permit us to leave a note behind. Considering the real-time nature of geek/talk Bulletin Board it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we at GeekVillage.com do not actively monitor the content and are not responsible and can not vouch or warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any message. All messages/posts are the express views of the author. All of your messages/posts on this Forum , member/screen names, member data, Control Panel data, Private Messages, and profile data must only use the English language.

If you click the Agree button at the bottom of this page, you grant us the right/authorization to use your posts on these Forums in the following manner: on this site and or any other site which we may own in a manner and fashion of our own choosing. The mission of our Forums has always been and will continue to be, a mainstream Webmaster Centric Community where Webmasters and site owners can share their knowledge and we can all learn from each other. We assume and history has proven that our Community is far different than the general Web population. Our members are bright, mature, well focused, responsible folks. Interested in sharing knowledge via high minded business like discussions consistent with our rules. Our focus has never been and never will be to cater to a subset of the Webmaster community who are engaged in the legal "Adult" web site business. I will not and have not published this type of content and will not display or accept adverts from any Adult content vendor, merchant, or site. Adult Webmasters have been and are valuable members of our Community. I want to continue this relationship, consistent with our rules and procedures. The notion that we can not learn from their respective experiences has no factual basis. Our mission and procedures encourage respectful and civil discussions among members, even if you find the legal content of their site objectionable.

Given our "mainstream" focus, please do not post any link anywhere on this BB to a Adult oriented Website and or any content of an Adult nature. This includes but is not limited to your "sig" or profile, as well as your posts. Please do not use any "sexually explicit" language anywhere on this BB. Our filter should catch most of this but I want to make sure everyone understands this. Please insure that the context of your verbiage is appropriate for a "mainstream" Webmaster Community. Please do not post questions or answers that pertain to an Adult topic and or Adult Website. For example, Where do you guys get your porno pictures? Answer: We get all our pictures from "site URL posted". Please handle all these issues via Email, but please continue to participate in our Community. Our Adult Webmasters should not interpret our policy as demeaning or disrespectful. You will continue to sit side by side with all members. Consistent with our rules and procedures. Our focus and mission has always been about sharing knowledge via high minded and business like discussions. Our younger members should not interpret our policy as demeaning or disrespectful. We know with absolute certainty that you are bright, mature, well focused, and responsible members. You will continue to sit side by side with all members. Irrespective of their race, creed, color, age, experience level, or legal site content. Regardless of your gender, morals, or religious beliefs, you should not interpret our policy as demeaning, exploitive, or disrespectful. Posting links anywhere on this BB to the following types of content and or other link gateways is a violation of our rules. Nudity, sexual themes, graphic violence, SPAM/bulk Email, pyramid schemes, illegal activities, instructions on performing illegal activities, substance abuse, foul language, material that violates copyrights, warez, hacker/phreaker material, MP3 files (whether legal or not), material that attempts to defraud internet advertisers, material that encourages hatred or discrimination based on race, religion, sex, or sexual-orientation are ALL prohibited.

MLM (Multi Level Marketing) can be rewarding or treacherous. Some companies which offer MLM are perfectly legal and pay their affiliate and others are destined to implode after about a year or two. Currently, some "credit card" offers have imploded and suffered legal action and government sanctions. Other type of card offers via a traditional affiliate program which does not use a MLM structure and which pay per direct application or direct approval are fine. We suggest that you use extreme caution before you enter into any MLM relationship. Then consult with your attorney and tax person. You can expect Team Geek to closely examine every post which deals with this issue and conduct our own investigation. We reserve the right to immediately delete these types of posts if we feel that the offer does not serve the better interests of our Community or we don't have sufficient data on the offer to reach an intelligent decision.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately via: Report Trouble On BB or FAX (858-457-5083). Any Abuse of these contact procedures is a violation of our rules. This includes but is not limited to entering your real Screen Name/Member Name, appropriate comments, and a real complaint. Our Let's Barter/Trade, Buy, & Sell forum has additional procedures and rules to prevent abuse. Please read the "FORUM RULES" announcement at the top of this forum before you post. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. You agree, through your use of the geek/talk Bulletin Board at GeekVillage.com, that you will not use the system to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

All questions and or comments on this document, your membership in geek/talk, our BB, our Rules & Procedures, or how we run geek/talk should only use our Feedback Form. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation. A "Member" will not use this Bulletin Board to bully, humiliate, denigrate, attack, and abuse another Member who is a "Merchant/Vendor" and also a Member. These issues should be handled via private Email and are between you and the Merchant/Vendor and serve no useful purpose for the majority of Members of our Community. Even a question may be insulting and violate our Rules, depending on the exact context and tone. A link/URL in your post which leads to another site and contains an insulting or false statement may be a violation of these Rules.

Please do not use any profanity or sexually explicit language anywhere on this BB. Our profanity filter should catch most of this but, any action which subverts this rule using special characters and or other methods is considered Abuse and a violation of these rules. Please note that this filter also contains names and or words related to companys and or individuals who have Abused geek/talk. Please insure that the context of your verbiage is appropriate for a "mainstream" Webmaster Community. If we elect to terminate your Bulletin Board member account and or invoke any of our Abuse Procedures for your rules violations on this Bulletin Board and you return to this BB and post under another member name, you are in violation of our rules. An individual/person may only obtain/use a SINGLE member account on this BB. Cross posting is forbidden. Pushing threads is forbidden. Geek/talk Forums for Webmasters is a "Community". A friendly place where members help each other with posts. We encourage the use of a "sig" which must be consistent and comply with all of our rules. TheftWare & Hijacking Member Notice: We have two Forums (StopScum & StopScum Screen Captures) devoted to fighting and eliminating Contextual Advertising aka TheftWare and it's negative financial and moral implications for all Merchants and Publishers. My StopScum site is also devoted to fighting this issue. Some folks like to use the words "Predatory Advertising" or ScumWare to describe this. Our definition for all of these terms is: any individual and or company who is directly or indirectly engaged in a method/technology which creates/distributes and or overlays links, banners, popups, new windows, and any other method/technology to generate traffic from a web site without that web site owner's prior written permission and these methods do not share any of their revenue with the site owners. In some cases, they alter the contents of a PG site with Adult and or Gambling links which the owner of the site would never permit. Other methods include popping an advertisement over other people's websites, without their permission or revenue sharing.

Blockers: We don't like them but understand the reasons which motivate you to use pop blockers. Inspite of our distaste for pop blockers, we respect your rights to use this technology and will never "force" a pop on you. Please turn your blocker off when you visit this site or any other site which we own. This insures our survival.

Hijacking Surfers: We consider Hijacking the same as an "exploit and our procedures are exactly the same. If "you" use, create, or benefit from the use of JavaScript, ActiveX, or any language, technology, or procedure to modify a surfers/visitors browser settings without their express permission, notice, and an option to deny this procedure, we consider you a "Hijacker/Exploiter". We find all of these actions morally and ethically reprehensible.

Given the complexity of this issue and determining exactly who is involved, our procedures for any Member who is directly or indirectly engaged in TheftWare and or Hijacking may be one and or all of the following: 1) You will be immediately banned and all your posts removed from geek/talk. Please note, we do not issue warnings. This action is not negotiable and we will not respond to your emails and or form submissions on our actions. 2) We may ask you to explain your procedures in a post which other members may read and fully disclose the details of your technology and procedures. 3) We may conduct our own private investigation on your procedures and techniques and arrive at our own conclusions. We may or may not take action. Certain sections of this site log and display your IP number. This includes our geek/talk Forums. IP numbers are not secret and have been used for years. Every site you visit logs and often displays your IP number. We use this procedure for your protection as well as our own. It helps us protect our members from abuse, permits members of our Bulletin Board to "flush" impostors and "Abusers", provides us with the additional evidence to aggressively pursue "Abusers", and acts as a deterrent for "Abusers". If you use a Broadband connection to the Web such as Cable or DSL, you should install a firewall on your system to protect it from third party abuse. We have received good reports about ZoneAlarm, BlackICE, and the Linksys Router. Then check the integrity of your system using Shields UP. If our IP procedures still make you nervous or are inconsistent with your wishes, please leave our site and do not return.
