I am interested in selling my Webmaster site.

http://www.maximumwebmaster.com

Google PR (5 at last check)
Alexa Ranking (c. 140,500 at last check)
Spidered constantly
Lots of inboundlinks
DMOZ listing
Exact traffic is difficult to judge only because I use a
free (excellent) host which lacks in one area - stats.
I mainly rely on my ADWORDS account, my PPC account
and Alexa to gauge...

Optimized for: (Google - February 3, 2004)

best hosting links #2
best webmaster directory #9
best site promotion #3
best webmaster links #2 and #3
best webmaster tools #1
best webmaster resources #2
awesome webmaster links #1
natural seo consultant #4
seo consultant halifax #1 and #2

Revenue has NOT ever been the focus (to date).
It does however, generate a few hundred bucks a year via
ADWORDS and has a few directory advertisers who pay
for links/descriptions on an annual basis.

A tremendous amount of work has been put into this site.
There have never been "get rich quick" or "here today, gone
tomorrow" schemes. No cheating, stealing or lying... just
old fashioned hard work - with excellent results.

Excellent site with even more potential.

Will include the domain WebHostBuyer.com

Asking Price: $4,500US

Is there any content on this site, or is it all links to other sites? Thanks.

Thanks for the question.

The short answer is YES.

It clearly can be built up, but there is content in place.

MaximumWebmaster has been built on the premise
of finding (and putting in ONE place) all of the very best
links to the very best sites for Webmasters, Developers
and Marketers.

Much time has been put into getting the site to this point.

It is also an excellent "jumping off" point for the release
of any new sites - which is my main concern in selling actually.

Once I lose control of the site, I have to start "all over again"
if I decide to open a new site. As you kmow, it 's not as easy
(nor as cheap) to start today as it was 3.5 years ago -
especially with respect to SE, DIRECTORIES and the like.

Hope this helps,
Thanks
Mike

P.S. All links/content are MANUALLY added. No link farms or ****.

But there is essentially no content. I'd be interested in a site, but it doesn't pay to buy a site like this for anywhere near $4,500. Contact me if you are interested in selling for lower prices, I'd be glad to take the site off your hands.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll definitely think about "my lowest acceptable price."

MaximumWebmaster (IMHO) is primed to do a lot more
than I may be able to handle by myself...

Even the current (modest) income stream isn't where the
value is in the site - that can be grown quite easily if the right
person knows how to take it to the next level.

The real value in the site (IMHO again) is that all the "hard work"
has been done. Someone can now step in and make it really, really GO...

However, it does bring in a modest income stream, it's growing
and my maintenance time is very reasonable now... so I'm not
in a huge hurry, I'm just looking for the right person with the
right need/want for a "well-positioned" Webmaster-related site/
directory.

Everything is UP from here for MaximumWebmaster from an
already UP place.

Thanks again,

M-

P.S. I could be persuaded to knock $500-$1000 off under the
right circumstances - right time, right place, right person.

Value of a site is different to different people... I don't see how this would be worth 4,500 to anyone - or 3,000 either. It's basically just links to sites. Not even a full scale directory. I believe I could clone it in just under and hour if interested. That's not a lot of hard work, and I don't get paid 3k per hour. i can appreciate that you think the site might go somewhere, but if you are so sure, then you should hold on to it, because it's current value is way below what you are asking for it. It has not content, and therefore no assets. It's got some links pointed towards it as well which might be worth a bit.

Agreed, it is not for everyone.

Agreed, a lot of sites could be "replicated" in about an hour.
Not so hard once the real work has been done.

With all due respect, if you can replicate what I have achieved
as per my original post, I've got some work for you tonight ;-)

More content, that's the easy part (IMHO)...

BTW: I like your site design a lot.

Hi maxweb,

Welcome to the "Village" and best of luck with your sale. :)

A respectfull thought: you need to provide stats to a prospective buyer and I'm NOT refering to Alexa. We have had numerous posts about Alexa so you may wish to search our threads.

This will certainly enhance the value of your site since SERPS don't happen in an hour :) and do have value.

I suggest you install http://www.phpee.com/ and then you will be able to provide the following data to a prospective buyer:

Uniques (NOT hits)
Page Views
Uniques and terms searched for from G,, Y, and others
The actuall source of your traffic besides SEs. This naturally exlcudes your other sites unless they are also included in the sale along with "bots" and or "auto surf" stuff that may have hit your site without your knowledge.

HTH and good luck.

Thanks Steve,

I will look into that.

Enjoying the board so far BTW.

P.S. This is my only site and I've never used "auto" this
or "auto" that (scripts, tricks or other)... WYSIWYG :-)

Thanks again.

In maxweb's defense, their is worth in more than just his content .. The site design, DMOZ link, PR, inbound links and possibly name all have value.

Thank you Sashman.

And, it's still growing :-)

At the same time, I hear what others are saying...

Then again, I still say adding content is the "easy" part. IMHO.

In any event, MaximumWebmaster might just fit perfectly
into a portfolio out there? If it doesn't right now, I'm a patient
guy - afterall, my site has been "in production" for 3.5
years so far, another 3.5 won't be too tough ;-)

Sashman, if you have a site that is related to any of my
subject categories, let me know... I can probably get a link on
for you if you're interested.

I'd be interested in seeing what you would charge for an exact clone of this site :D

For $4500 I could build you from scratch a PageRank 6 site with several hundred pages of content making a profit between $300 - $500 a month. It's not that hard to do, just takes time and money. A $300 offer is pretty generous for this site.
