I'm looking for some software that'll help me reduce the size of
some graphics, both JPG and GIF.

Any recommendations? Preferaby shareware so I can try it first.

If you just need to optimize a few graphics, you can use the free online services mentioned above. If you have many, or will have more to optimize in the future, using an app on your machine is easier, and you can produce better quality images with similar or smaller file sizes. I like ulead's smart saver pro best. You can get a 15 day free trial (6+mb dload) at http://www.ulead.com/ssp/trial.htm .

http://www.boxtopsoft.com has some of the greatest software on the market. Not only for gif and jpeg optimization, but for simple animation as well. It's cheap too. Once you pay you can download the program from the site and upgrades are free. Another bonus was when I realized I needed gifmation on another computer away from my system at home. I went to their site and was able to identify myself with an ccount #, and I was again allowed to download the title. Good stuff.
