How long does it take to go to Google, Dmoz and Yahoo and submit the site yourself?

There is a common belief (myth???) that submitting your site by hand is much better than using automated methods. I don't really believe it myself but that's what people say.
I can't comment on Submit It but if you want a free submission tool, try:
You really only need to submit your site to the top 15 search engines. The rest are pretty much a waste of time but it probably doesn't hurt to do it anyway.
Here is a list of top search engines. Ignore the rankings. This is out of date (March 2001) but if you submit the first 15 or 20 or so of these then you should cover all that are worth considering.
Add to this list DMOZ.com which is missing.
I feel that hand submitting is best for a few of reasons.
1.) You know right away if your site submission was accepted.
2.) Some search engines do not accept submissions from auto submit programs.
3.) It is free.
It takes only a few minutes to submit your site to the major search engines.
