Unhappy Does anybody make enough to live off of?

Hi, does anybody out there make enough off of pay per click programs? I can only get about $12 a month from e-ads. Let me know if you do, how much you make, who you go through, and the address to your site. I have a really cool new site, but can only generate about 200 visitors a day. Any comments you have will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey there Jessem. I personally am not but I am under the impression that quite a few people that participate in this board are full time webmasters.

Cool

It's possible ... I remember reading on thefreesite.com's mailing list that the site's owner had quit his full-time job to dedicate all his time to the site. So you gotta assume he was/is making some nice cash off of it. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Personally I don't make enough to live off of, and I doubt I'll ever get there, but I make some nice cash. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I remember getting my first check (from ClickTrade, heh) and it was so cool that someone was paying me for my website ... *sigh*

In any case ... it all comes down to traffic. If you can get a lot of traffic to your site, you can make lots of dough. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Good luck!

I remember my first check "from the net" too - also Clicktrade! Fond memory, I was so psyched. I'm making a living from my online efforts, as are many others on these boards. My stuff is at http://wondermill.com/

I was making a living just for a few months when I was getting decent CPM rates pay ever since the cpm/cpc rates pivoted below $1 I ain't making a living anymore. It's like taking your revenue and dividing it by 4 or more when cpm rates drop like that. It's crazy advertisers are shifting over to different or possible larger networks. Ads agencise are being bought out by large networks and replacing them with low cpm ads and of course advertisers themselves some of them are either moving to cpc advertising or going bankrupt (grin), or advertisers want cheaper rates. They say only 5% of the websites survive on the internet.

yeah hehe.. i remember my first net cheque... was from safeaudit for US$89 in Feb 1999 i think... i went down hill from there for like months until i found this forum and traffic picked up...

then i moved onto clicktrade for US$25 - 40/month cheques for 1 - 3 sites... then moved on and on and on.......

traffic now is around 300 - 500% more than i had back then... from what i gather from everyone on this board and others i know... if you work hard at it and put the effort into... it can take between 6 - 18 months before you start seeing 'okay' results... not enough to live off though... since as you grow so does you hosting and operating costs ...

My first check was from CyberThrill Casino...
Well, that WAS SUPPOSED to be my first one http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Kind of gave me a bad impression about earning money on the web.

Despite all of the negative comments it actually is possible to make a living off the Internet. It is, however, very hard work and is far from a "get rich quick scheme" as many people try to sell to newbies. The right type of content, aimed at a decent audience along with a good mix of advertising, CPM, CPC, CPA and some of your own (hopefully) will enable you to earn a living off your website.

Good luck

Well, I don't make enough to live on (don't need to right now http://geekvillage.com/ubb/tongue.gif), but I do know 2 people who live in the same area as me that earn enough to live comfortably (I'm not going to name names because they do not usually admit to being "RICH", one or both will probably post on this later) but I'd say that its going to take a lot to make me quit this and get a REAL job. I mean, my biggest problem throughout the day with this webmaster job is choosing which CD I want to listen to http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif and I just don't know if I could handle actual work anymore (and yes, I have had a real job before).

Cool

Affiliate income makes my truck payments. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif It could do a lot more (if I really tried).

Cheers,
Dan

Come to think of it, this is a very subjective question... One person in a certain area could make a good living with say $1,500/month whereas another person in a different area would require around $4,000/month before they could live off of it... This question depends on geography and how much you spend on yourself...
