Just goes to show how times have changed.

Right now, I would kill for $1 CPM with no defaults. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif

Question

Kerplunk, you have been pretty negative towards quite a few people on this board. Almost makes it look like you wish you were not involved as a webmaster/publisher at all.

Any reason why

I'm not negative, I'm just straight-forward with people. I'm not going to lie. For example, if someone's site looks bad, I'll let them know. It only helps them. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am very happy being a webmaster/publisher. (Well, as happy as one can be in this period in time.)

I greated this post today because I thought some of the newer publisher could see what it was like a year or two ago and what it's like now.

That's all I have to say.

For some site genres, I'd have to say that the days of earning enough to cover bandwidth is over and is not likely to return. Revenue streams of all types are collapsing for them, not just banners.

That said, I've just sold a 1M+ RON campaign for $1 CPM net. It was supposed to use my Engage defaults, but Engage has evidently sold my inventory, so I'm having to cannibalize my affiliate banners.

I was going to say that it's funny, Edwin was the only one who predicted that it would go bad and yet, Edwin is here today. Those other guys who were in their before him, do you ever see them post anymore?

Something to think about. :P

Actually our current state of economic affairs is no surprise to many of our very very smart "grizzly" long time members. Today, we have numerous other smart folks who recently joined and help all of us.

Note the date on the following thread:
http://geekvillage.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000163.html

Many of our new Merchant members and new Publishers who join are aware of our current challenges. That's one of the major reasons they join geek/talk. The quality of sites which have been joining is significantly higher than it was a year or two ago.

Iv'e never been one to spend a large amount of time looking at my own mistakes. Rather, what I learned from these experiences and how I can use this knowledge to continue to succeede in todays environment http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Good luck to all and thanks for your collective wisdom.
