Arrow ClickXchange Increases Merchant Fees

That is, the firm is attempting to eliminate inactive or underproducing merchants by implementing minimum expense levels, whereby those merchants that fail to spend approx. $90 in payments/month will have a fee deducted from their balance.

This could be beneficial to affiliates, as it would ensure that a greater proportion of the merchants with CJ are operating large accounts with significant cash balances, but it could also cause a phasing out of low-cost CPC programs.

Anyway, the full text of their update follows:
clickXchange will be offering a new pricing structure of 20% affiliate earnings. This option will be available for those members who choose to pay an upfront access fee of $1000. We will also continue to offer our current 30% no money down as well.

Our current advertising members that have spent more than $10,000 with clickXchange will automatically have their rates dropped from 30% to 20% on September 1st. Current Advertising members that would like to move to the 20% pricing structure and have spent less than $10,000, may do so at a prorated access fee based on the amount spent with clickXchange.

To ensure programs posted on clickXchange are valid and actively participating, we have found it necessary to implement a minimum usage fee. This minimum usage fee is simply to protect affiliates from non-paying programs and to increase the quality of programs posted on the clickXchange network.

New members receive a 30-day grace period before any minimum fee will apply. After the first 60 days of membership the first minimum usage billing cycle will begin. For current members, the 30-day minimum usage fee countdown will begin on August 1st. We will begin billing on September 1st for current advertising members who do not meet the $19.95 minimum for the prior month.

How does the minimum usage fee work?
If the $19.95 minimum/month is not met, clickXchange will simply deduct $19.95 or the outstanding commission owed from the advertising members account.

Example: An advertiser spends $33.25 in a month at 30% commission. This means the advertiser has spent $9.98 towards the minimum $19.95 usage fee leaving an outstanding $9.97 commission due. clickXchange will deduct the remaining $9.97 from the advertisers account to meet the minimum. If an advertiser spends $0.00, clickXchange will deduct the $19.95 from the advertiser account.

Checking daily but so far no unusaul entry of big time merchants to CLickXchange. In fact, there does not appear any unusual activity.

There are some Commission Junction merchant forum members. It would be interesting to hear what they have to say about the CJ changes and moving their operations elsewhere.

Hats off to ClickXchange,

Todd Crawford (CJ) stated that they spent an entire year to come up with the latest "exciting" plan. I wonder how long it took cXc to come up with this plan. It looks to me that some REAL thought was put into this.

Maybe cXc could make a few more dollars leasing out its marketing staff to CJ.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if ClickXchange just came up with these new terms over the weekend, in anticipation of the arrival of many soon-to-be-former CJ merchants looking for somewhere to move their CPC programs.
