Unhappy New Network Looking to Start Up

Hiya

My network is really new to the scene, just a few months old, and basicaly I'm looking for a way to get it off the ground and onto its feet.

Finding advertisers is very hard when you have a limited amount of traffic, and finding traffic when your low on advertisers is also a pain.

Any ideas?

The site for my network is http://ads.********.net

Thanks,
Dan

Ouch, I hate to burst your bubble, but I think you picked a bad time to start an online advertising network. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif

Heh, and with that attitude... nevermind.

If you absolutely can't find anyone to advertise on your sites, I suggest using $0.04 CPC CJ.com banners... that's what I do when FastClick doesn't have any banners to serve me...

That's actually what we've been doing lately, but 0.04CPC doesn't pay for our servers, it does, however, fill inventory.

I didn't mean to show attitude, but you did point out an obvious fact.

Have you tried using ANOTHER ad network like FastClick, ValueClick, Advertisin.com, or some other network to fill your remanent inventory? If not, you should try that...

Other then that, I don't know where major ad networks look for advertisers from... so I can't help you. Sorry :/

I agree with kerplunk. Try to resell another networks banners until your traffic increases to the point where you can actually get some advertisers of your own. And for getting advertisers, in this market you're going to have to offer advertisers a rate WELL below the larger established networks. Find out what they charge (usually around $0.20 CPC right now) and offer them something around $0.15 or less CPC.

Please do not take this the wrong way, it's meant as an observation.

As a publisher who has worked with a lot of ad companies over the years, I would be nervous about serving your ads based on your contract. Your contract is written in such a way that from every conceivable viewpoint, you do not have to pay the publisher.

I do wish you luck though.

We've actually gotten this a lot.

However, we have never not made a payment to date. We designed the contract to protect us in the case of a cheating publisher, which is one of the main reasons many pay-per-click networks are going down.

$0.15 is still rather high right now... I was looking at some of FastClick's campaigns and oh boy. Most ValueClick webmasters get $0.10 CPC, so what would ValueClick take off like 4-5 cents? So I can see ValueClick offering ads at around $0.14- $0.15.

Anyway, try them at $0.20 (LOL) and see what they say and then keep going down until they agree. I wouldn't go below 7-8 cents though.

Good luck, ********! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Welcome to Geek/talk ********! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif It's great to see that you value your potential publishers' opinions as much as those of your advertisers...so here goes...

Personally, the biggest concern that I see with your contract is the exclusivity demand. I understand that this control feature can make your network increasingly attractive to advertisers, but on the flip-side, the presence of branded names within your publishing ranks is equally as valuable - and it's unlikely that any large sites will join your network while that exclusivity clause remains. Besides this, publishers who are familiar with Standard Internet would be even more dubious, seeing that BulkClicks and ClickThruTraffic banners are rotated through your system (and these accept almost any US-based publisher directly).

Anyway, keep us posted as the network progresses, and best of luck with it.

Well, what can I say... Thanks http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif

As for the exclusivity rule, any webmaster who feels that he needs an exception should ask, we usually honor all requests for this if the webmaster can provide a good reason.

Thanks for the welcome, again.
