Angry About.com Luna Network!!!

Quote:
After careful analysis, we have concluded that your site is more suited to our Luna Sprinks program, rather than our Banner program. We have therefore decided to eliminate the banner component of our program for your site and replace it with Sprinks. Although we have found that sites in your category are experiencing a difficult ad market for banner advertising, we believe your site could do extremely well in our new Sprinks program. This program has generated significant revenues for the About Sites in your Channel, and we believe your site will be successful too. In fact, we believe it is possible for you to earn more in this program than you have been earning in the Luna Banner program.
I've been kicked off the banner program! Just like that? What the heck!? This is stupid!

Who else received the email?

That's really unfortunate Kaumil. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif

I know how much Luna used to mean to you. You've always spoken highly about their service.

Still, it's not the end of the world. Those of us who have never received replies to our applications make to About.com have somehow managed to survive the shakeout. It won't be easy, but you should be able to piece together a substitute banner source.

Time for the experimentation and innovation to begin...

I see you've edited your message to include a quote about the ejection.

So they expect you to replace their banners with the 1 cent/click Sprinks program. What?

Try all the banner networks, as well as some of the auction-style ad marketplaces. Then, complement these with CPA defaults, SI searchboxes, links and popups, and you should be able to keep the site active.

Simple answer to that! FreewareWorld.com needs CPM advertising. CashCommunity.com is CPC now.

I can see where this would put you in a bind. Very few networks are accepting new sites now. If you do end up getting into TribalFusion, I suggest having some place to send defaults lined up.

I already included the new rich media adcode. It looks like there are less default ads than before... the new adcode also serves popunders with very reasonable CPM rate

Does anybody have the link where you can apply to this Luna network. I have gone to about.com and never been able to find it.

Thumbs down

I got the same email, dammit. Well that really screws things up. Funny, I thought I signed a two year contract with Luna! I've always spoken highly of them in the past, but now ... bah.

I guess it's not entirely their fault, the ad market right now is pretty bad, but still, this ***** .
