Hi,
A few months ago i posted here asking for some comments on my new design. I've been busy so I never got around to finishing it. Anyway, I would like some critique on my newest design. The original design is at: www.rawsports.com The first redesign is at: www.rawsports.com/beta/index.shtml and the newest redesign is at: www.rawsports.com/beta/beta2.shtml The links do not work. Thanks -CJ |

Your site looks fine if IE 5 but very messy in Netscape 4.7

CJ,
The beta2 site looks pretty good to me in NN 4.5 and IE 5.0, I haven't had the time to download 4.7, so I can't speak for what may be different in it??? As far as I can tell the site seems to be browser friendly, and it is clean and simple. As far as the cleanest, simplest design, that attracts attention, I think you've hit it head on, great job. ------------------ Regards, ...Questy Forum Moderator, full time computerguy, part time philosopher.. www.questy.com ... www.computerguru.net ... www.eden.nu |

The problem in Netscape 4.7 is that the search form is alittle to long and the graphic is not connected. Also the wires that suppose to connect to the banner and the top part is not connected. Hope you understand what is just said. If not download 4.7 to see it for your self,

I think I know why you didn't see it, because you probably use font sizes 10 for the text and 8 for the form. I personally uses 10 and 12 which are the default fonts and it look very different in those sizes. We discuss this earlier at
http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/F...ML/000184.html Try to test with diffrent font sizes. ------------------ KHN Do you love Freebies? Click Here Now! www.thefreeguide.com [This message has been edited by KHN (edited 10-02-1999).] [This message has been edited by KHN (edited 10-02-1999).] |

I see the freeze... i don't know what could be causing it other than the tables.. i'm looking into it now. The reason it's a .shtml is for SSI calls. There is no hidden counter or anything else that should freeze netscape..
I didn't change the font size for the search box.. i just made it shorter. there is a way to specify the font size but i don't remember it. -CJ |

Content wise and concept wise...excellent. Personal opinion? I think the design of the link pages looks better than the home page. I prefer the look of the Raw Sports logo on the black/grey pinstripe bg against the black background.

Your site looks great now but when I uses Netscape the site freezes my browser for a few seconds. It's very annoying so I though you might want to look in to this.
Another thing, how did you asign the search box a certain font size?? Please let me know. ------------------ KHN Do you love Freebies? Click Here Now! www.thefreeguide.com [This message has been edited by KHN (edited 10-03-1999).] |

Looks good in N 4.61 http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
So much better than the first version last time. Nice work! Their is a "pause" as the page loads. I double checked. I'm not sure on this issue but why are you using .shtml? Perhpas a "hidden counter" is stalling the load time? ------------------ Best Regards, Steve_S Your Administrator www.very-cool-stuff.com Tons of High Quality Free Stuff www.coolgroup.com Multi-Media Postcards & Community |

CJ,
Nesting tables will slow things down a bit but I don't think I have ever seen them "pause" a page. This is just a hunch http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/biggrin.gif The JavaScript that controls the roll overs might be the culprit. By comparing your old versions and staring at your page as I refreshed it 8 or 9 times this is where it pauses, when it executes the JavaScript. I think i have fixed the freezing. I recoded all the tables and i do not see a freeze anymore and i even shaved 5k off load time!! can you guys please check it again? i would appreciate it. http://www.rawsports.com/beta/beta2.shtml
There is still a slight delay in netscape but it does not freeze. As far as the old design with the grey/black background goes, I just don't feel it was colorful enough and it didn't give the right attitude. I love black and i like the old design but I received a few complaints that it was somewhat dreary looking. Plus i think the new design is much cleaner looking and much more expandable for all the things i have planned. Thanks -CJ |

CJ,
I just tested it with N 4.61 and all is fine http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/biggrin.gif The very very slight delay is not an issue. Good luck and please refresh this thread if you ever need other eye balls on your stuff. ------------------ Best Regards, Steve_S Your Administrator www.very-cool-stuff.com Tons of High Quality Free Stuff www.coolgroup.com Multi-Media Postcards & Community |
