Post Deja.com affiliate program suspended

So, one more program that bites the dust http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif I loved this program, as it fits perfectly to almost any site. They started paying 7 cents a click, two months ago lowered to 4 cents and now it is discontinued. I think that it was not planned, but they shifted focus this month (also discontinued Deja communities).

Do you know a program like this one? Enclosed is the mail I received yesterday:

Dear Deja Affiliate,

This e-mail is to inform you that Deja.com will be suspending its Deja Affiliates Program on Wednesday, September 27, 2000
until further notice. You should remove all links to Deja.com from your site at your earliest convenience. Please be aware
that all such links not removed by September 28, 2000 will be redirected to www.linkshare.com.

We very much appreciate your interest and participation in our program, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
You will receive a final commission check by mail in four to eight weeks. If you have not received your check by November 15, 2000,
please e-mail us at affiliates@deja.com.

Sincerely,

The Deja.com Team

Whoa! looks like no one here used the Deja.com affiliate program. No one touched this post in 4 days!

It was fun while it lasted. Recently they allowed to link to ANY usenet post, in what looked to me a dumb move. It is OK linking to product comparisions or any other feature that they could convert to money. But an usenet post? No way... I was even making a board full of links to useful usenet posts!

As about.com lowered their payment to 2 cents, looks like the affiliate programs linking to content sites (no selling) is almost dead. The last refuge is the search engines affiliate programs.
