Unhappy netsetter dumps it's international affiliates!!

this is so ****... why would they do it???

this following text was located on the bottom of an online message to it's affiliates... if your ****** off... e-mail them.. and cj.com

"And on another program initiative, Netsetter is limiting Netsetter affiliate membership to United States only, effective September 6, 2000. All international affiliates will be compensated for leads earned prior to this program change. If in the future we have a research need for affiliates from other countries, we will post this on our offer page within CJ.

Thank you very much for your participation. Best of luck with your site!"

I have no idea why they did it either. I'm not too bothered as I only joined the program recently and haven't racked up enough money to get truely p*ssed off by it, but I'd imagine a lot of posters on this board will be.

Hmmm, I think all of us international affiliates should write an email of complaint to them.

I'll go write one now...

What is the affiliates' address

I sent to support@netsetter.org and via CJ's messaging system.

I am in a similar situation to you JP:
- a CJ merchant
- based in non-US (I'm UK) 0- but with 80%-90% US traffic/subscribers
- significant (not at you levels) activity with their affiliate program - I showed 200,000 netsetter banners in August and have a top 10 search engine ranking on generic terms related to surfing quicker on more than 1 US search eninge.

Even if they keep me, if they don't respond soon, I will switch to somebody else as I can't be bothered with this, and I'd rather concentrating on actually selling my own products anyway.

Is there an alternative matching affiliate program?

Their decision is just plain silly. I am Canadian, but my website is not. As a matter of fact 80% of ScoreLarge readers are American, yet I'll get the cut.

I've sent them 1500 leads in the past 5 months since I've joined CJ and they're going to cancel my account?!?

I sent them an email, but sadly I doubt they'll change their mind. As a matter of fact, they're probably getting so many complaint emails they won't even read most of them.

Me neither.

I don't know if it's going to make a difference or not
but I plan on pushing NetSetter this weekend like I've never
pushed any other program before. Hopefully this will help
them open their eyes and make exceptions.

I was actually dumped from Netsetter almost two months ago, for the same reasons.

I explained to them that even though I'm Norwegian myself, about 80% of my visitors are American - but I only received a generic reply that said something like "Sorry - we'll let you know if we're ever looking for the demographic of your site".

I'd also sent them quite a few leads, and was making some decent money with them.

Oh well...

there has to be another reason!!!
but what would it be...??

If your in norway.. you don't get money for signing up anyone from another country outside the US anyway. SO i can't see what the difference is.

It can't be about getting out the payment. Because CJ.com takes care of all that and sends to all countries.

They make up some lame excuse about targeting. They can't treat their affiliates like this with out paying for it somehow.

I also feel they are playing with their stats as it is. They make CJ.com so much money that they wouldn't want to step in and do anything about them.

Question

Those of you out there that use CJ as merchants - can you tell us if a merchant can see the full details of each affiliate?
(And his country of origin, specifically)

JP - There's pagoo in Websponsors etc., but I'm not gonna use it much as I think it's not a free software

I plan on changing my search terms pages over to something like a cheap DSL page. That's fast surfing right

For banners I'm gonna switch the ones on my webmaster pages to AffiliateRecruiters, possibly Linkshare (they contact me recently) and MoreOver - and the general inteest page banners to coupons, cyberbounty + callwave
