I just stumbled upon this site tonight and it looks to be a goldmine of good information. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I have a site that is generating roughly 25,000 hits a day and due to increasing costs to keep things running, have decided to put up a banner ad (or two), but have no idea of where to start. Could some of the experienced members here please give me a Top 5 list of good reliable companies to check out? Thank you very much in advance. |

Hi Flix - it sure is the place to come for great info.
A few of the most popular seem to be Burst, Adflight, Linkshare, Advertising.com, CJ, Websitesponsors, Bla-bla...I know I'm forgetting a ton - but I'm sure others will complete the list. There's a 'search' link at the top of this BB that will enable you to search threads on the various programs. Though it'll take a while, you'll be able to determine which is the best for your site http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif |

Hi Flix, http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
In my opinion, top 4s are Burst, Flycast Network, Advertising and AdFlight. Check out these sites: http://burstmedia.com/ http://flycast.com/ http://advertising.com/ http://adflight.com/ |

Ok, I've looked around and it seems adflight and flycast are the only decent two I've found thus far.
Burst won't allow the use of ads on a forum, Advertising is mostly CPC (I am interested in CPM) and Bla-Bla won't even put their rate structures on their site! (I'm looking for facts and data, not a representative to contact me and harass me.) Anyone else have any suggestions other than Adflight or Flycast? Also, what happens if the space isn't "sold"? Will a blank gif be loaded? Will my pages show an error? Finally, the most annoying thing to me about banner ads are sites where the ad server cannot handle the load and it slows down my surfing while it is contacting the ad server. Frequently I find sites will not even load because the ad is the first thing on the page! I'd really prefer to put the ads at the bottom of the page to prevent that. Any specific good or bad places in that aspect? Thanks for all the help. |

Burst won't allow the use of ads on a forum
This isn't exactly true -- Burst won't allow you to put ads on content that you do not control directly. Flycast will not let you put ads on a forum. The Burst restriction is trying to screen out sites like free e-mail, "get-a-free-forum-from-us" sites, and free web page sites. Ralph ------------------ http://www.hockeydb.com |

Ok, I've implemented AdFlight's ad into my entry page for the forum (the majority of the traffic runs through there). Since each impression is based on a unique visitor, it seemed foolish to place them on every forum page, as the entry will register the visitor and anything past that would be a waste of annoyance. (Annoyance=you should see the incredibly distracting banner they are using right now!)
Are there any good advertising companies that will pay on raw impressions (not unique visitors)? If so, I was thinking of implementing the ad onto each one of my forums pages. Also, is there any good advertising companies that will allow an ad to be placed at the bottom of a page? I know my viewers and they aren't the type to "click through" on an ad. Thanks! |

Adflight only pays for a unique visitor? If this is true, I better change some of my banners around then.

Maybe I misread the banner scheme on that. Let me know if you find otherwise. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yup, that's what they gave me as primary and secondary code. I thought it was odd too and have emailed them.
Is it possible I have misread Adflight's contract in reference to "unique visitor"? Could they mean each unique visitor to each unique page? |
