agreed
i've noticed admin trying to keep some sections of the board alive with fear and doom as the titles for some topics. maybe everybody is just happy and has nothing to say, not. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/eek.gif ------------------ Click 4 some tested resources for making money $, hosting, and web promotion. Well, Depends on your point of view... I think as webmasters stick around this board for a while and get more experienced, there may be a lot less "what's CPM" sort of questions. Personally, I don't use many of the Pay To Surf programs, so I generally don't participate in those threads. Can you guys think of any more "advanced" webmsater topics you want to talk about? http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif arn ------------------ http://www.weeno.com - Learn Stuff You Don't Know Promote Your Site - write an article, get new/interested visitors. |

I decided to stay away from all advertising related programs.
GetPaid4 has been a real disappointment. Their affiliatewave changed to nickelaclick. They have no active posts anymore. They try too hard, they can't take a chance with losing money. i.e. those GetPaid4 emails and banners on stats, the min/max CTR or controlled CTR. They have weird things like your site must be the average. What we can't be unique? And it's not just Advertising.com, my money from various projects have been on a gradual decline. Steve has a great board, yet I do agree I miss those long arguements. I always thought the hosts had better reasoning than the advertiser's excuses. ------------------ James Liu A 16 year old with ambitions.. ICQ: 68486870 jliu@mailgrams.com |

Just my observations:
The board is growing up. Everyone is moving on to the next plateau of learning. Since the chat started it seems to me the posts have dwindled. People seem to be going there to ask their questions and express their views. Maybe a little burnout also??? |

I actually find that Advertising.com is picking up for my site theprequels.net ( probably due to traffic increases) but it's been good.
Their new adserve technology is much better and I have alot of referral click revenues as well http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif CTR with Advertising.com is around 0.25 - 0.75% which is low but referral click income is slightly greater than my own click through income ... ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... The board is *quite literally* a reflection of us. We are the board. There is no board without us. It's Steve's board, but it's everyone's board too...
If it's slowing down, we're slowing down. It's a pretty direct connection. I do notice a general slowdown across all the web-related boards lately. I think it's due to some burnout and some level of maturity in our industry. That's why we all get excited and go crazy when new concepts pop up, (eg. All Advantage, Pay to Surf, Free Domain Registration). When these hit the street, we all talk up a storm! About the boredom part, I suggest merely to make sure you are enjoying the sites you are creating. If you aren't, start something new! ;-) - Aaron |

Oh... and don't forget: It's getting to spring time in the Northern hemisphere (spelling???), so people tend to get out from their houses more, and spend less time on the 'Net.

an over-moderated board usually slows down. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was getting an Advertising.com CTR of over 1% on a regular basis, but that included their daughter windows. Since they changed the daughter windows from FreeLotto to ones that pull less clicks, my CTR has dropped in half, as has my Advertising.com daily income. ------------------ JP Sauve ScoreLarge.com - free stuff and bladder busting humor |
