Unhappy Venting about AllAdvantage

Got my email today, and see that my hours are cut from 25 to 14 (more than a 50% drop!) This after they've been promising a raise to 40 hours since I first joined almost a year ago! They MUST be joking!

I've already pulled their ad on my site, and expect I'll just watch my cheque amount plummet each month. As I have over 400 referrals, I'll miss the $$. Ah well, it was good while it lasted I suppose :-)

Thanks for allowing me to vent...grrrrr :-0

I'm sure in few months you'll be receiving an e-mail saying they've reduced it to 5 and in about a year they will either be out of business or have to drastically change their business model.

However, as a web master you should be happy. They are one of the resons why CPMs are in a free fall.

i looked up my month's ISP bill and i racked up 401 hrs 17 mins in 28 days http://geekvillage.com/ubb/eek.gif all for free too http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Not to worry cyberjr, you soon will.

As I said, I just got it today (maybe they sent the A+ out first?)

It included a table detailing how each country would be effected. Some (can't recall which) stayed the saem, but I know Canada is down to 14 hrs, and US drops to 15 - no idea how they arrived at these figures.

I don't get the logic of this. For the most part, aren't most advertisers wanting to target US viewers the most? With these new plans, advertisers will be reaching US viewers much less than Spain, Austria, Switzerland, and most other countries. How does this help them? I agree that they need to change their plan a bit, MyCashWeb had some interesting comments in the other thread. They really do need some kind of system to pay for purchases as well, because as it is now, you can ignore the bar and still make money, and advertiser money is lost there. After the first few hours, its very easy to block out the viewbar on your screen. How many of you notice your clock changing in the bottom right corner? PTS by itself doesn't have long to live, IMO, but incentive based programs are a great idea and have a brighter future.

Take care

Perhaps "Total amount of money available for that geographic region + loose change we found down the back of our couch - the whiskey we drank last night as we watched our stock plummet" all divided by the number of users per area http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am a A+ memeber. In matter of fact I sign up 3 months after alladvantage open for business. So if anyone in the US would get the letter first it should be me.

I agree with xor,

Recent events with AA highlight that their current business model has some flaws. They will have to adapt or die.

My personal feeling is that there has got to be greater value added for the surfer besides the money (e.g. jotters password feature, news ticker, etc) that will encourage them to use it beyond the payable hours. Maybe even throw ina portal like functionality to the website.

Also there has got to be greater value added for the advertisers. Currently AA basically pays you for running their bar and does next to nothing to bring returns to the advertisers. I think the program that brings guarenteed visitors/signups/purchases will have much more success at retaining advertisers.

hmm.. my earnings and referrals are up 40 - 50% but what's worrying me is new sign ups may fall since they can't see how they can reach the min pay each month

rather i have seen my Spedia and Surfingprizes referrals/sign ups increase over the last week http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I agree, this could be bad news. I joined in July 99, my email came in the early am today (3am EST).

Although, they could be trying to discourage a few of the people who cheat the programs. Like an employer might try, have the crud quit before they are fired. Not that I am calling anyone in particular crud.

I will hold on for a few more months. 15 hours is only about 3 days worth of using the viewbar, it is a small price to pay.

My earnings for alladvantage were down about 20% last month, this month it looks like it could be down an additional 40% http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif even with more referrals.
