OK here's my situation. I currently use Flycast as my main advertiser, any unsold inventory goes to Burst via default banner and any unsold inventory from Burst is in turn sent to Imagenetworks. This all worked out great until recently. CPM adverts at Flycast have dropped and Flycast now use CPA adverts instead of sending all unsold inventory to Burst. While my number of unsold inventory remains the same only half is sent to Burst and the half is now Flycast CPA.
Flycast's definition of CPA is "CPA buys include Cost per Click, Cost per Sale, etc. Flycast makes CPA buys available to advertisers only after testing the profitability of the specific offer. CPA buys always have priority below CPM buys." I would prefer that all unsold inventory be sent to Burst as they have been great when it comes to CPM recently. I haven't found any option that allows me to send all default banners where I want. Again is the following order in which my advertisers appear. Flycast -> Burst -> Imagenetworks I was thinking should I change my ads to the following order, Burst -> Flycast -> Imagenetworks Do any of you know of any other good CPM advertisers. Thanks in advance Jason |

I know what you mean. Flycast has always defaulted everything to Burst for us. But in the last few days they started sending NOTHING to my default but using their own CPA inventory instead.
What a joke. Now I seem to have a predominate CPA ad running over and over - something about "Dining in Louisianna"! |

I have noticed the same thing. My Burst defaults are down to a bare minimum but I see alot of CPA. Some does really well over all (net $6ish), but others just don't do to well at all with our vistors. Overall it looks like a wash between flycast/CPA and Burst (as defualt) for us.

Flycast sent a letter out recently about this. They converted everyone over to CPC/CPA unless you told them you didn't want to be converted over. I had them not convert me because I use the same method.
However, life isn't to green on this side of the fence -- Flycast has been serving me 90% defaults over the past week. I suspect that since they now accept CPC advertising, their advertisers are opting for this instead of $3 CPM ads. Which is lousy because they're getting the same number of ads for 1/10 of the cost of a CPM ad -- most CPC campaigns bring in $0.30 effective CPM if they're lucky. Unfortunately there is no way to say "send a percentage of my defaults to CPC and the rest to default", and there's no way to select the CPC campaigns you want to run -- as far as I know, its all or nothing. The problem with Flycasts CPC/CPA is that you can't choose which ones are a good match for your site.
As a result, currently out of 150,000 adviews per day, 90% are being defaulted to the same 5 CPC ads. They have no qualms about showing the same ad over and over to someone, unlike their CPM ads which they carefully monitor so they aren't over exposed. It's a mess. The current state of advertising, that is. |

I haven't noticed much change in my Burst figures for dosgames.com recently ... yesterday I had:
16975 total pageviews -2663 defaults (to my AA banner) ----- 14312 paid views = $33.29 gross divided by half (I'm on the 50% plan) is $16.465 ... So slightly less than $1CPM. I used to get around $1.20CPM ... it's slipped a bit, but at least it's still around an acceptable level. (For me, anyways.) Also ... anyone know how long does it takes advertising.com to review your application? I submitted mine over 4 days ago, and no word from them yet ... (they say they will respond within 3 days on the site). ------------------ Darren Hewer webmaster, www.potofgold.org |
