Best Type Of Banner Exchange... - geek/talk: Signature-free discourse for serious web publishers

I know of banner exchange programs such as linkbuddies,link exchange, among others. However, i see these types of programs beging less effective as one that is with the theme of your site. So i was wondering if anyone knows of a program for an entertainment type site... the target audience would be teens - ppl in their early thirthy's.

I have doubts about specialist banner exchanges, based on an odd personal experience: I joined a fairly large but specialist banner exchange (humor related) for one of my sites. I also used Exchange-it run of the network to advertise.

I the specialist banner exchange I got CTR of about 1:500
In exchange-it with the same banner I got CTR of about 1:75

I guess either something funny is going on, or else my site wasn't funny enough to get hits from a humor related banner exchange.

Incidentally I have seen this kinda odd effect many times. Often I find I get better CTR (using a general exchange) using Run-of-the-network than targetting. Anybody figured out why this might be ?

Could it be because my banner is more likely to be seen by more different people (rather than the same people 50 times) with run-of-the-network ?
