fairhousing,
Thanks for stopping by. If you read through some of the web site reviews here, you'll notice that I'm generally discouraging people from using frames. From a web surfers view point they do more to confuse people than to help them. They keep people from, or confuse them, in being able to bookmark or print individual pages. When frames first hit the web big awhile back many ill constructed web sites suffered from the mulitiple frames sydrome, you get framed sites within framed sites, and it really gets ugly. From a marketing perspective, frames confuse search engines in the same way they confuse casual surfers, and this causes pages not to be indexed. About half of the major search engines do not support frames. And here's probably the most compelling food for thought tidbit, how many of the most visited web sites use frames? Any of the search engines? Any of the major news sites? They probably don't because they realize that a cleanly built, fast loading web site is what keeps people coming back for more. Take a look at the news sites, cnn, usatoday, espn, etc, and you'll get some ideas on how tables are used to hold a site with menu's together. (Make sure you understand tables, some folks blur the two concepts together.) If you have a specific example in mind, come back here with it and we'll see what we can do to help. ------------------ Regards, Questy The small business and technology guru, It's not just a job, it's an addiction! www.computerguru.net [This message has been edited by Questy (edited 04-07-99).] |
