Default Signature problem

I saw the post about the signature and why was removed. But the topic was closed that is why I made another one.
It was about a decision there to place back the signature.
So is it on ... is there a number of post?
I ask this because I saw that the rules did not changed? ( they still allow you to place a signature ).

Haha. Ironically, it was closed because the thread started years ago and I'm tired of having to justify a decision made on my own website, for the benefit of our most loyal members. Now another thread pops up keeping the question going.

The position as expressed in the original thread still stands and will stand for the foreseeable future. I still waste at least 30 minutes a day dealing with spam on this forum that the perpetrators regard as "SEO" and if sigs were allowed, that time commitment would be even greater. I have 7 employees and a family to support and don't want to dedicate my life to cleaning up after selfish spammers and link droppers.

I hope that's clear and hope i don't have to continue justifying this decision for the next decade. This discussion has already stretched for more than 2 years, which is bizarre. There are thousands of other forums on the net that do support signatures. Anyone who is coming here just to gain inbound links is better served elsewhere.

What a very polite welcome. Anyone who has read a single thread here before registering will notice that sigs aren't supported. Those members who jump in to register without even looking at a single thread are most likely here for e wrong reason.

I'm not sure whether you've ever moderated a forum before or not, but if you have, you would know that the best members are those who are here to "be paid" in terms of knowledge and community, not via link dropping. It's precisely the link dropping type that lower the quailty of many forums.

I don't judge the way you run your site and the amount of time I want to take away from your family and hopefully the few members who come here, make a single post and criticise how I spend my time and run my own website will start to realise that this decision is not going to change. There are 1000s of other forums that support sigs. Please don't register here if that's your only reason for wanting to contribute.

I find it somewhat ironic that you criticise me for supposedly wasting a couple of minutes of your time during the registraton process, but you're quite happy for me to sacrifice countless hours deleting spam and inviting paid "SEO" link droppers back to the community.

To avoid further confusion, I've edited the Title tag and name of the forum to explicitly mention "Signature-free". Should I need to do this after 13 years of active participation on this forum? Of course not - a forum admin has the right to enable or disable sigs on his/her own site. Still, I'm sick of being demonised by new members over this issue, which really only concerns those looking to pitch their wares, rather than gain something much more valuable than an inbound link: direct access to professional web publishers and ad network execs who come here to share knowledge openly and to grow together.
