I keep hearing recently that people have had to sacrifice a lot of their social and family life in order to make a living online. It shouldn’t be this way, so I’ve decided to post a few tips to time management.
1.Prioritise, do your most important tasks first. Make a daily planner and stick to it. Having a routine will increase your output allowing you to spend less time on the computer. 2.Have a finishing time. There’s nothing worse for your health than to still be up at 1 am finishing some work off. Pick a reasonable time to turn your PC off every day, and stick to it. 3.Multitask. Buy a cheap portable internet service so that you can work on your site when on the move. Such as when using public transport. 4.Set Smart objectives. SMART means Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed. So instead of ‘I’ll update my site today’ you should say, I’ll update (X) section of my site with (Y) content by 3pm’ making sure it’s achievable and realistic. 5.Set aside time for other things, and stick to those times irrelevant of what’s happening to your site. Either have a few hours a day set aside to socialise, or choose a ‘day off’. 6.Don’t procrastinate. It’s better to get your work done ASAP and then be able to go out later than mess about on games for half the day then have to stay in working. 7.If your website is making quite a lot of money but needs all your time, hire some help, or take a business partner. It’s better to have friends and family and half the money (providing it can still support you) than be a richer social outcast. Thanks for reading, hope these helped. |

Thanks for sharing this useful article. You know what, it is easy to make a time table in a daily basis but the trouble is sticking to it. Along the way less priority tasks will interfere with the time table.

This is a very good list, thanks for sharing. If you wouldn't mind I would like to suggest one other item: Use your tools to their full capacity. Automate, document, save. You will get a lot of your time back by using your tools effeciently.

Time management. This is the main reason why I'm still lost up to now. I find it hard to stay focus on what I'm doing. That reason perse makes it difficult for me to accomplish so many things within the day. Maybe because I'm enjoying my life that I actually holds my time. No rules, no ifs, no buts, NO BOSS!

I can be whimsical and sometimes my mind get's all caught up with other things than actually finishing or even starting up with something.. *This one is a hard habit to break!*

(This is a hard habit to break!) don't say that my friend. Self motivation can be a solution of that. Be focused, and everything will be fine.
