In my opinion the best sources of getting traffic are article submissions and social networking. These are proven methods to get backlinks and traffic to your website.

1. Stumble (28%)
2. Traffup (26%)
3. Search Engine (10%)
4. Digg (6%)
5. Twitter and Facebook (20%)
6. Forums, Article Submissions and Others (10%)

But its not that easy because now a days forums and blogs are strict due to spammers (ei. selling bags, shoes, medications) so they are guarding their sites. As a result to really get in the forums, business owners hire people to do major online marketing for them.
