Default A search engine that talks

I love gadgets and items that do unusual things. I guess it is the little boy that is still in me and probably will never leave.

Each year I look at the famous Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog. I look at the unusual and very expensive items and wish that I could have all of them.

I can also enjoy something unusual when it is free, and that brings me to Speegle at http://www.speegle.co.uk It is a talking search engine.

It is an operation in Edinburgh, UK. It uses Google results, but it reads them to you. The pronunciation is not exactly right at times. You can select either a female or male voice.

I guess this could be useful to people with certain disabilities. It might be useful to people with vision problems. It also has quick keystrokes.

For me it is just a novelty item. I treat it as an unusual toy.

It is much quicker to read the results yourself at Google. But perhaps it could help a child learn to read or help someone learn the language.

If you are by yourself I guess you can have it read to you and you can feel as if someone is there with you. Perhaps you could change it from the female voice to the male voice and pretend there are two people there with you.

It is something different that I thought some of you might enjoy as a novelty just as I have.

Possibly someone can think of some practical use for it that I didn't mention.
