G'day Geeks of the World,
Today marks an exciting step forward for the Geek/Talk community with the birth of a new, and incredibly timely, forum at: http://www.geekvillage.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=72 As internet penetration rates increase in non-US markets, the proportion of the online audience that is comprised of US residents continues to diminish. Given this, and the reality that most of the mainstream networks discussed here on a daily basis either enforce or encourage the delivery of their ads primarily to US web users, opportunities abound for each and every one of us to assume leadership roles in a number of exciting new markets. No longer is monetizing one's international traffic a simple matter of sending 5-10% of a site's banner inventory to some obscure third-tier network. Geotargeting, regional sales offices and a booming market of niche geographically-focused networks and affiliate programs has made it possible to extract optimal results from the delivery of regionally-oriented campaigns to appropriate audiences. This NEW FORUM is designed to assist the Geek/Talk community in wading through the various opportunities and pitfalls presented by the global market. Please feel free to discuss such topics as: - International ad networks - International affiliate networks and individual affiliate programs - Selling your own goods or services to non-US markets - Doing business in a foreign country (legislation, tax issues, forming partnerships and other business structures, etc) - Payment processing and delivery mechanisms (merchant accounts, online payment systems, other financial matters relating to currency exchanges, etc) If you are unsure as to how this forum deviates from our other, established fora, please feel free to contact me for clarification or simply post away and our merry band of mods will transfer your thread to a more appropriate forum if necessary. Welcome to a new phase of Geek/Talk's market leadership. Hopefully you'll all derive as much interest and inspiration from this new forum as Team/Geek has from its release.
