I suspect this thread is more of a joke than serious, but I found this cute little gadget...
http://www.linux-works.com/cgi-bin/s...&preadd=action For $915, you get 600MHz Celeron, 256 MB RAM and 6 GB hard drive in a tiny computer which fits in the palm of your hand. And it takes up so little rack space that the colocation company might not even charge you for it :P |

Hah haaaa... I got it to 700 MHZ, 256 RAM, and a20 GIG HD for 1117 or something like that. Imagine co-locating ten of those things.

Yeah, you could presumably fit ten of these in a single 1U enclosure, assuming you can get the needed power and network connections to them (might need to add a hub too).
Advantage: Very low rack charge; pay only for bandwidth consumption. Disadvantage: High hardware cost (2-3x normal). New unproven technology (e.g. what if they break easily). |
