Unhappy mysql help

Hello,

Im starting to learn mysql. I have a question though. Do you *HAVE* to work on your database online? Ive been working online for the last couple days but a friend told me i could do it offline. Im wondering how since mysql asks for your server's information.. thanks.

Once you have installed mysql on your machine, simply point to the server 'localhost' and you'll be set. Windows serves might take some special configuration with ports and what not but its all explained in the readme.

to use mysql offline on your own pc for testing stuff.. go to www.abriasoft.com or www.nusphere.com and download their product

i downloaded and installed www.nusphere.com for my win 98 pc and it automatically installs apache/php4/mysql/webmin/perl and stuff on your pc in one go.. works for linux and windows pcs
