Default Google Adsense Tax Forms - Don't quite get it

Hi All

I'm a little confused about the new google adsense forms.

It mentions if I have equipment in the US which I use for hosting the services which basically help me earn money then I need to fill in a form.

Now I live in the UK but I have a number of sites sat on a dedicated server in the US. Does that mean I need to pay tax to the US?

I may as well move my sites around to my UK servers if thats the case as I also pay UK tax on my adsense earnings.

Am I reading this right as Im a little confused?

Thanks for your help in advance

I think we had this discussion so do a search for "google" and "tax*" but I think someone wrote to google for clarification.

I think (unless memory is completely gone) that it isn't enough to lease a box for webhosting in the USA to qualify to pay USA taxes. You have to own the box as it sits in USA ....but there were a few other conditions to it as well.

Check out the other thread. I know I posted on that thread and so did Czar. I think it was Czar that got the scoop from Google and clarified it.

Found it: http://www.geekvillage.com/forums/sh...=google+tax%2A

There you go.

If you're just hosting a site on a server located in the U.S. I don't believe that actually means you have to pay U.S. taxes.

As an example, if you hosted a site on a server in the U.S. and you had an employee or employees in the U.S. that were doing work on your site in any capacity, then yes, there is an obligation to pay taxes.

Thatl's how I understad it...

"Generally, utilizing an unrelated third-party U.S. web hosting service to host your web pages, renting web servers that are located in the U.S. from an unrelated third party, or having your payment sent to a U.S. Post Office Box or mail forwarding address, do not of themselves constitute U.S. Activities."
