Unhappy CPC vs CPM banners

I'm looking to make some new banners for my site. I know from experience
that those who pay for CPC advertising have banners for name branding
and don't really elicit clicks.

On the other hand, CPM ads typically run banners that really pull
traffic and encourages surfers to click.

I want my banners to pull lots of traffic. Short of trial and error,
does anyone know what typically goes in a CPM banner so it gets maximum
click throughs?

Is it just me, or did you get CPC and CPM mixed up in your descriptions.

Just to clear up some matters for Bogdan. CPC = pay per click, CPM = pay per 1000 ads. People who sell their ads CPC are not normally thinking of making banners for clicks because they are paying for each click. A lot of times, it is just getting the name out.

On the other hand, if you are paying for CPM advertising, you are making banners for maximum clicks since you are paying for each time the banner gets viewed.

Make sense? I probably explained it in the worst way possible, but that's kind've how I understand it. And for suave, http://www.devshed.com/ might have something along the lines of what you are looking for.

My fault ccole.
I dono what I was thinking, I didn't read the post properly.
I thought he was talking about getting a CPC advertiser to get low clicks, and CPM for high clicks.
But he is the advertiser, therefore that makes sense.

One thing that might help is re-designing the front end of your site. I clicked on your affiliate link to check it out. Looks good, so I decided to go to the main page.

Hmm, Sign up, get tickets, win prizes. HOW do I get tickets? Am I playing games? Clicking links? Getting tickets for reading e-mail?

Oh, it tells me in the FAQ. Well I'm brand new to the web and don't know to look at the FAQ to see what your site is about, so I just left because I have no idea why and what I'm signing up for.

Catch my drift????

I do catch your drift, and plans for a new front page are underway.
The current main page is leaps ahead of the last one, pretty much as
the next one will be. Just need more time! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

For now however, my task is to design some banners that pull traffic
like crazy and I'm looking for ideas.

....one more thing, don't think our current main page doesn't convert.
Our average is still a 25% convertion from the text link "Win a Sony
Playstation 2". Some affiliates are even getting a 50% conversion.

That's a good conversion from a text link that really pulls traffic.
