I was reading one of the threads and it was saying how these spammers were spamming there pages onto her site; causing her site to be shut down. I dont understand what this means?
What are spammers? If you send emails to people you dont know are you a spammer? Are the junk emails I get from spammers? If someone could just explain this spam thing to me a little i would greatly appreciate it. |

One definition of "spam" is any email that is sent to a person with whom the sender has no existing relationship. This means that if you sent me an email (and we hadn't spoken before), your email might be considered spam. Generally however, when people are talking about spam they are referring untargetted email that is sent in bulk to thousands or millions of email addresses.
A "spammer" is a person that send this sort of email. Since ISPs and web hosts try and combat spam, they will often shut down the website of anyone that is caught sending spam. If someone sends out spam email using facilities you provide (eg: a free email service) your website could be shut down if your webhost receives complaints. |
