Well, it's been a busy few hours but my new site is up and running and I am interested in your opinions...
The site is http://www.revisit.com and it is basically a free URL redirection service. Thanks, Edwin ------------------ Free Email Address Directory: 1,000+ free email services. http://www.emailaddresses.com/ |

The site looks neat. But have you thought about giving away sub-domains?. A site name such as http://mysite.revisit.com might be more appealing than http://revisit.com/mysite.
Good luck. ------------------ CyberMan cyber_man2000@email.com |

Ideally, I'd have liked to offer both at the same time, but the script I'm using (the only one I have found that I am happy with) is an either-or script i.e. I had to choose either subdomains or directories. Since I may do other things with Revisit.com (as well as this service) I thought I'd keep the subdomains open for a while until I know which I might use for the site itself.
But yours is a good point, and well-taken. It surprised me when I was looking for a redirect script just how few there are out there compared to just about any other kind of "webmaster tool" and how "flaky" most of the ones out there look! I have my fingers crossed that the script I chose will work well... Edwin ------------------ Free Email Address Directory: 1,000+ free email services. http://www.emailaddresses.com/ |

I also agree, it's a very neat and clean site, very easy to navigate, and appealing to the eye...

The text on the red nav buttons should be brighter, stand out more, imo. plain old white would do the trick.

Thanks for the suggestion. I changed fonts, and redid the buttons with white text. I also changed the wording and layout of the account signup pages... and signed my first user http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I like the site as well, not to jump on the bandwagon or anything.
its clean, pleasant to look at and doesn't confuse visitors with a dozen different options, its straight forward and makes it easy to sign up... if I wanted redirection, I would much rather visit a site that didn't bombard me with unnecessary info... Thanks for the "jog", Steve - I don't know how but I managed to miss it before. Ideally, I may look into having either one combined script or else two parallel scripts - so that I can offer both sitename.revisit.com and revisit.com/sitename to users.
It looks like the script you mention may well serve for the sitename.revisit.com portion of the dual service, unless of course I can find a single script that does both! Edwin ------------------ Free Email Address Directory: 1,000+ free email services. http://www.emailaddresses.com/ |
