Default How often to resubmit to a Search Engine

I am curious about how often people submit their sites/pages to the "non human" search engines, like Inktomi, Northern Lights, etc. Wew currently submit some sites weekly where we are gettigna lot of traffic and only once a month for other sites where we are not doing well. We originally submitted weekly for the first several months.

We are happy with our results, but it is expensive in labor costs to submit all of our sites, and I have even read where submitting less than once per month can almost be spam?

Any comments?

With search engines, if it isn't broke, usually it is best not to fix it. Thus, if you are about where you want to be within the engines, I would not recommend resubmitting your site. It is very important you watch where you are ranked though so you know when you need to reoptimize and resubmit.

If you aren't where you want to be, then probably it is best to reoptimize and resubmit on a time period you are comfortable with. I do not know specifically whether submitting your site every x days will hurt your rankings but to be on the safe side, I'd submit no less than every 15 days (if not more). Make sure you submit only one page from every site per day per engine. Even better, just submit your site map.
