Unhappy Starting New Banner Exchange. Help/Suggest?

Hey gang!

I'm starting a new banner exchange. Yeah yeah, it's been done to death, but I think my design, and target audience will really drive the site towards success.

I'm marketing it with slogans such as:
"43,287th banner exchange"
"before us there were lots more"
"the #1 banner exhcnage for goats"
and
"our 3:2 ratio is like all the others"

Anyways, I was wondering if you guys had any tips. It's a humor banner swap that will (in my mind) be competing with humor-sites.com (NOT: NOT MY SITE!). Questions: Should I dare to put in a "How to make money with your humor site" section, or would that just be tacky? What other things could I offer?

I've invested several hundred dollars on the site, and scripts which run it, so I NEED to make some $. My sponsor has already agreed to let me run ad banners across the entire network, which is wonderful.

Also, where would be a good place to get the word out? I've never created a "service" site before...so any info would be appreciated. I look forward to hearing your ideas!

Hi Monkey,

Promoting a humor sites banner exchange should be easy.

Just mail a few big sites. If just 2-3 big sites place your banners then it's done and it will go very fast by itself.

I cannot count the number of webmasters that have already asked me some questions about banner exchanges for humors-sites.

I'm currently working with humor-sites.com, humorhunt.com and jokesxchange.com

Exactly the same happens with top humor sites.

A "how to make money with your humor site" is also something you can add.

Thanks Gallery!

It's nice to hear some positive feedback, and I can only hope that the site will be as easy to promote, and successful as you suggest. Anybody else have something to add?

Cool

Out of modesty I'm sure but you failed to mention you are starting from one of the
BEST humor sites on the web!
I'm in! And I'd love to hear "How to make $$"
from someone who obviously knows what's funny! (My new humor site is currently on the drawing board..so hurry!)

One big thing you can do to distinguish yourself is to support all the CASIE standard ad sizes... I recently went searching for a banner exchange for my BURST! default ads and could only find one banner exchange that supported cubes and buttons.

I'm not familiar with CASIE standard ad sizes? Where can I learn more, gmiller?

Thanks Steve! I don't think I want to support ALL of those, but probably the micro button, full banner, and square would all be somewhat popular.

Cmex, I am using a fine script made by the people at www.meysoft.com -- I was recommended by the guy who created www.exchange-it.com (one of the best banner exchanges on the net).
