Default Could you review HoopsAvenue.com please?

I am looking for feedback and suggestions for my site, HoopsAvenue.com

I am pretty happy with the layout, but I'm more than happy to discuss any improvements that could be made. I'm also interested in an evaluation of my meta tag usage.

Thanks in advance.

I just went to your site and all I see is the server admin Plesk page. I don't see a site?

Yes, it has been down for a few days while my host (who I am extremely disgruntled with) is changing from Ensim to Plesk. It should be up within a day or two, but I have become very frustrated.

I still see the Admin page and not your site. I think it's time to shop around for a new host. This kind of delay is totally unacceptable and not necessary. Drop over to our Hosting Forum, read the guidelines, and ask for advice.

If that doesn't strike your fancy I suggest that you politely and respectfully ask for a credit and or reduction in your hosting bill and make sure you get this in writing via an email.

I agree. It is unacceptable. I have heard rave reviews for HostMatters.com, yet I use HostRocket.com for my site. Good luck.

Believe me, I'd love to go with a better host, but I'm a college student operating on a very limited budget.

How much are you paying for your current host? It's not like switching hosts means paying more, which you seem to believe.

I'm paying about $30/year. It was down for 8 days which is totally unacceptable, but I have little choice to go elsewhere. If anyone has any recommendations on good hosts somewhere in that price range, let me know. BTW, my site was back last night, but now it has been down for 2 hours again. It's on the new server, though, so if you are reading this, you might be able to get to it.

Hi David liked what i have seen so far, one bit of code error early on.
<CENTER>
<TABLE WIDTH=750 BORDER=1 BORDERCOLOR=#OO4273 CELLSPACING=1 CELPADDING=2> Cell Padding.

Also have you considered converting to XHTML?

HTML Problems

74 IMG:/images/cribs.gif WIDTH

Recommendations
You may want to break this Web page into several smaller pages.
Try to reduce the number of servers you connect to. Each connection adds about 2 seconds to your download time.
Click on an image's file size to reduce it with GIFBot.
Adding HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes to your images will help browsers display your page sooner.
Your page's overall rating was lowered one level because of HTML problems.
Correct the HTML problems to get our highest rating.

Understanding Your Results

Page load time depends on:

The size of your HTML file and any frames it references.
The number and size of your images.
Use of HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes with your IMG and TABLE tags.
The number of servers that must be contacted to download files and images.
The speed of the user's modem.
It's a good idea to keep your page load times under about 12 seconds on a 28.8 modem.

What are the benefits of XHTML? I like PHP, but I'm happy to listen to your thoughts, never messed around with it.

$30/year for 1 GB/month. That can't be right, that number is inflated and I doubt they offer you that in reality.

I recommend HostMatters - if you can afford $14.95/month. They are genuine, have excellent support, and have an outstanding reputation.
