Hi guys,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I'm not sure what time it is in your respective parts of the world, but the World Trade Center in New York City was struck by two domestic passenger jets moments ago.

The building is presently flaming, and the number of casualties as well as other details such as the cause and/or group responsible are unknown.

Since this is a disaster of epic proportions, this thread should be used to reflect upon the incident and to provide updates as they occur.

(side note for you conspiracy theorists out there - did anyone see the first episode of The Lone Gunmen)

Update: It's becoming increasingly clear that this was a deliberate attack, and both towers have been struck within minuted of one another.

Now an explosion on the mall in Washington.

Most of the USA's national treasures are there. The Smithsonian Air and Space museum.

Supposedly the explosion on the mall is at the Dept. of Defense.

All aircraft in the whole US have been ordered grounded by the Fed's and to land at the nearest airport. As more reports of terrorist activity are coming in.

Apparently, a US military helicopter was circling the Pentagon before disappearing moments before the fire erupting there.

This is obviously a very precisely organized attack, and seems to involve multiple successful hi-jackings.

Let's just pray that this is the last of them, and that the White House will remain standing.

A few more updates:
Trading has been suspended at the NY Stock Exchange.
The FAA has suspended all takeoffs and landings across the nation until investigators have a grasp of the extent of the attack.

ONE OF THE TOWERS HAS COLLAPSED!!!!

A middle-eastern group, going by the name of the "Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine" has claimed responsibility for the attack.

WTC south tower building has collapsed.

People are jumping from the north tower.

What are these people hoping to accomplish by murdering innocent people working in offices? What?
