Question strange traffic

i think im getting strange trtaffic, on Firday and Saturday i got over 1000 uniques per day but on monday and tuesday i only got around 200 per day. On Wednesday i got 1,500. Is this normal ? most of the hits are direct refferals, ( return vistors etc )

I find that my traffic is normally lower on weekends and higher on weekdays, but not to the extremes as your site. What site are you talking about, certain sites will attract a lot more visitors on weekdays than weekends.

I have figured out that i get roughly 3 times more traffic when i update the site, but how is this possible ? i mean if these people are coming back to see the new content they would have to come back everyday to see if its updated, i dont say when the site will be updated or do it on the same day every week. So how could they know ?

With new browsers, I think you can 'subscribe' to a site and the browser will tell you when the site was updated!!!! (IE5)

If possible, check the browser identifications.

Today, one of my sites got almost five times the usual daily page views. At first, I hoped that I might have "hit the jackpot" on some search engine for a popular term, or had been recommended on some high-traffic site somewhere.

But then I noticed the 15,000 hits from an address-harvesting spambot called "EmailSiphon."
