Thumbs down Did AltaVista Sell out quality for cash?

Here's the headlines:

I always like AltaVista as a tool, because of its power and depth. Compaq, who bought out Digital, recently spun off AltaVista to CMGI. Asking this question strictly from a marketing perspective, Is this latest press release an example of a web site selling out quality for cash? Will it pay off in the log run?

if anything this is an example of altavista
selling back in rather than selling out. They were not quality before, but quantity.

One of there new big selling points is their shopping service. That's quite a departure from where they've come.

Not sure what you mean by selling back, but they sure are selling!
