Unhappy free hosting sites

Do you know any good free hosting sites which allow you to use your own domain name?

Well if you don't mind Banners than I'd say www.freeservers.com. But if you don't want any banners than you may want to check out www.portland.co.uk. I actually signed up with Portland last week, but than I finally decided to switch over to a pay host and did it make a difference in loading times. My site (Which will soon open up for beta testing) went from loading in 25 seconds to 10.

Tripod is one that I know of. Also Geocities I think (but with their extra advertising now it would be an annoyance - I will paste a part of an email I got from a friend)

Geocities have decided to try to get everyone to pay for having a website, so they have very cleverly placed a very annoying advertisement which pops up on every page you open. So I am thinking of transferring my site somewhere else. If you've recently been on my site, do excuse the annoyance of this. I've tried placing the page lower, but to my consternation, this morning I opened up and found they'd just made the advert longer!!!!!

Thanks for the info. It's looks like there is always a catch like 100MB transfer or no CGI...
