Question Google ranking method

Does Google give precedence for new sites over older ones ?

If so, does it mean that site's rank gets worse during the time ?

I'm pretty sure Google doesn't in any way give precedence for new sites.

During the recent happenings they did give a boost to some news sites for a while, and I think they'll probably do this again every now and then.

Link-popularity and -quality is the most important factors in Google's ranking algorithm. (The more links pointing to you, the better. The most valuable links are those coming from sites with same topic/theme as yours, and from sites that themselves have high link-popularity (or pagerank).

As far as I know, none of the regular search engines give precedence to new submissions. (Altavista did, at least for a while, the complete opposite and penalized new submissions during the first couple of months or so, and Inktomi did (possibly still does) penalize all new free submissions!

Basically since it generally takes time to get links, all search engines give a boost to older listings which they have more fully crawled the sites that have linked to them.
