Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could get some suggestions as to what banner rotation software I should use. I'm looking for something that I don't have to install myself, but still offers a robust number of features. I've looked at Virtual Spinbox, but it's just too darn expensive for a site with maybe 100,000 pageviews per month. (I'm not earning enough to cover the $75 a month fee.) Adbutler seems promising... but they went down on me the other day for almost an hour (not confidence inspiring). Any suggestions? |

Looks interesting, but it appears that I would have to install the software on my own server, correct?
Any thoughts on AdPush? Austin |

Austincassidy,
The downtime at Ad Butler was due to a move from a california based colo to a more local data center. It was planned downtime (the first in over a year) and was unaviodable. Regards, Rajiv Khaneja Sparklit |

Another virtually-free remotely-hosted ad serving solution may be found here:
http://www.orbitcycle.com/ OrbitCycle is relatively flexible and reliable (given its price http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif), and takes payment in the form of 10% of your ad inventory. Worth exploring... ------------------ Czar |

If you are willing to install onto your own server, try WebAdverts.

You might wanna take a look at dot-banner (www.dot-banner.com)
I hear it doesnt use much system resources and is cheap, about 30 dollars. It runs on your (server) machine although. I bought it, but am waiting for my second dedicated server before I install it. |

If networks not allowed to modify code how come you guys buying ad serving products?
Didn't you get kicked out for that or you negotiate with the network? Just wonder. My personal opinion: If you do sell ad inventory on your own then you do need it, if you work with the network why would you even want it? Combine 2-3 networks together? I see no point here my self. www.valuead.com ------------------ Ad Network Where Webmasters are in charge. |

![]() Quote:
As for the last part of your question/opinion, ad serving software is useful (if not essential) for publishers who use networks from an administrative point of view. Not only does it give publishers the ability to avoid manually editing potentially thousands of pages whenever they need or wish to change their ad code, but it provides them with the ability to weigh campaigns and mix-n-match ad sources on the fly. Yes, iframes, SSI, Javascript and the like can serve this purpose to some extent, but many publishers (myself included) prefer the simplicity and reportability of professional ad serving software. ------------------ Czar |
