Unhappy register foreign domain names with networksolutions!!!

well, with $199/year/domain you can register foreign domains with networksolutions!!! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif ... although $199 is a little expensive(for me) but it save you a lot of time if you want to register a foreign domain like .AT http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

to my surprise, lots of HOT foreign domain names are still available according to the search result in networlsolutions. however, when i try to search the same domain name in register.com or other foreign registration sites, those HOT domain names are REGISTERED!!! HOW COME??? at 1st i thought i will make millions out of those domain names hehehe http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

anyone, registered a foreign domian with networksolutions before?

is .CC domain name really going to be as popular as .COM?

well, some are the same as .com, where you can do it yourself http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif ... however, you have to send some foreign registerars a mail and they will then do the changes for you http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Some background info on the company that is supposedly buying Beauty.cc. This came from a bulletin board at afternic.net.

UniversalDomains nee Four Crown Foods
Cybergypsy 6/13/00 05:11 PM EST

Four Crown Foods is/was a Vancouver company that announced 9 months ago that it was acquiring a meat processing plant that would increase its revenue by 3000%. It was doing so at a cost of $65m which was rather surprising considering they claimed sales of less than $1m in their first year of operation. They announced delays in the acquision and then called it off last January after generating media and investor buzz.

Their website at 4crownfoods.com is defunct. The whois record lists Seeds Capital Corp, a non-valid email address and fax number, and no telephone number, which isn't surprising as Seeds Capital Corp has no telephone number. Their nameservers point to a high school on the outskirts of Vancouver.

My take is these people not only couldn't pay $1m for a domain name, they probably couldn't pay it in stock either. I doubt they could pay it in corn chips (mebbe that's where .cc comes in).

This reflects badly on the .cc domain, the reselling of ccTLD's in general (which I've always been leery of, take a look at the nic.tm page which hasn't changed in months), Great Domains, and by extension, the whole industry.

This didn't take much detective work and the press doesn't like being hustled. I expect there will be a part two to this story.

i prefer local hosting services, or tucows.com, or maybe godaddys virtual servers.
